William Samoei Ruto, born on December 21, 1966, in Sambut, Uasin Gishu County, is Kenya’s fifth President. Ruto’s political journey began early during his time as a youth leader in the 1990s. He later served as a Member of Parliament for Eldoret North around 1998–2013 and held various ministerial positions, including Minister for Agriculture and Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology.
A significant milestone in his career was his role as the first Deputy President of Kenya, serving two terms from 2013 to 2022 under President Uhuru Kenyatta. Ruto was first elected President in the August 2022 General Election under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket, on a platform centered on the "Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda" (BETA).
He was inaugurated on September 13, 2022.
His administration has prioritized several key initiatives, including investments in agriculture, housing, and the digital economy, aimed at stimulating job creation and economic growth for low-income citizens. He remains the current President of Kenya.
