This nomination marks a significant milestone in Kenya's history, signalling progress towards gender equality in the highest legal office of the nation. Rebecca Miano's appointment is expected to inspire and pave the way for more women to assume similar leadership roles.

Rebecca holds multiple accolades, including a rank on the list of the list of the Top 100 Women CEOs in Africa and being named Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) in recognition of her outstanding service to the nation.

A registered and certified public secretary of Kenya who attained a fellowship status (FCS) from the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK). She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, a diploma in law, and post-graduate studies in comparative law.

In 2010, she completed the Advanced Management Programme at Strathmore University and is a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). Her commitment to education is evident through her role as a member of St. Paul’s University Council.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he’s “appalled by the shocking scenes” at the rally. “Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack,” he said.

French President Emmanuel Macron called it “a tragedy for our democracies,” describing Trump as “a victim of an assassination attempt.” “France shares the shock and indignation of the American people,” he added.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he is “sickened” by the shooting. “It cannot be overstated — political violence is never acceptable,” he emphasized.

In Japan, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated that the world “must stand firm against any form of violence that challenges democracy.”

The government is set to employ alternative measures to raise Ksh. 346 billion for the FY24/25 budget. Some of the proposed measures include cutting down on government expenditures by Ksh. 177 billion and borrowing the balance of Ksh. 169 billion.

The President announced that the Treasury conducted an assessment to determine the viability of borrowing the full amount versus cutting the entire amount.
