The mother hen does not stop hatching eggs just because the hawk has taken her chicks.
Meaning: Misfortune, no matter how severe, should not discourage us from pursuing causes we believe to be genuine and just."

Explanation:

This proverb reflects resilience in the face of adversity. It uses the imagery of a mother hen, who, despite losing her chicks to a hawk, continues to lay eggs and nurture them. This symbolizes the unyielding spirit to keep pushing forward despite setbacks.

The proverb emphasizes that the fear of casualties in war should not prevent people from engaging in a justified fight. It illustrates the importance of persistence in the face of challenges, especially when pursuing what one believes to be righteous or necessary.

Ultimately, both expressions teach that setbacks or losses should not deter us from pursuing our goals, especially if they are meaningful and justifiable.

A goat that dies in a barn of yams wasn’t killed by hunger, but by laziness.

Explanation:
This proverb is directed at individuals who find themselves surrounded by abundant opportunities but fail to utilize them. As a result, they suffer from sickness, misery, poverty, and, ultimately, death.

A perfect example of this is Africa. The continent is blessed with abundant natural resources, yet it struggles to harness and utilize this wealth. Despite its vast potential, Africa remains poor, plagued by diseases, and burdened with crippling debt. Ironically, the very resources that should bring prosperity are ceded to foreign powers, leaving the continent in a cycle of dependency.

Africans are dying of hunger, disease, and lack, even though they are surrounded by nature's abundance. Indeed, this proverb is a fitting description of Africa’s predicament.

Our people say, when you remove a tick from the body of a dog, show it to the dog so that it sees clearly that what you removed is a tick. This way, the dog will not mistake your kindness for an attack."

Explanation:
This proverb emphasizes the importance of openness and transparency in human relationships. When helping others, particularly in situations that may cause discomfort or pain, it is essential to be clear and open about your intentions. Without transparency, even well-meaning actions can easily be misunderstood, leading to unnecessary conflicts.
