Fear of Negative Feedback on the Web or Social Media
When we look at the various ways in which brands manage negative comments about them on the web or social media, it’s important to acknowledge that a common fear lies at the heart of every response:
"What if the comment convinces our target market to turn away from our brand?"
These fears are natural and valid. There are many brands that have suffered substantial problems because of negative comments that gained momentum.
Every brand active on social media with stiff competition and a sizeable audience faces unfortunate or spiteful criticisms posted for all to see.
The tricky part is that your social presence acts as the face of your brand. How do you keep it blemish free? The answer is tough to swallow: you don’t. People will always complain. It’s what you do after the complaint that matters.
Better management of negative comments helps to :
- Diminish further potential harm;
- De-escalates their momentum (i.e., does not encourage more negativity and does not turn into a brand/commenter battle);
- Positions the brand as confident and able to process such comments calmly;
- Encourages constructive changes to the brand if the comment is valid, and encourages an even more vibrant, engaged social community.

KDF ups fight for Uchumi assets with purchase deal.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will forcibly acquire 3.7 acres on which Uchumi Supermarkets’ Lang’ata branch sits, adding a fresh twist to the ownership of the prime plot that is a subject of a court suit.
The National Land Commission (NLC), on behalf of KDF, is working on the papers that will convert the land and buildings estimated to be worth more than Sh500 million for military use.
This will see the KDF entangled in a court battle that has seen UBA Bank push to auction the property over a Sh172 million defaulted loan.
The cash-strapped retailer is betting on the proceeds of the KDF sale to aid its turnaround as the bank lays ownership to the property.
“For now, we cannot comment further on the value of compensation until we receive the award letters for compensation from the NLC. We are confident that the expeditious completion of the process will go a long way in implementing the turnaround strategy," said Uchumi Supermarkets CEO Mohamed Ahmed Mohamed.
It remains a secret why the KDF is angling for the land that is adjacent to Wilson Airport, which the US government warned earlier was vulnerable to terrorist attacks due to lax security.

DCI petitions court to have FKF’s Nick Mwendwa detained for 14 more days.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti now wants Nick Mwendwa held for another 14 days to enable his officers to complete investigations into misuse of over Ksh 8.5 million at the Football Kenya federation.
Mwendwa who was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts Magistrate Wandia Nyamu did not plead to any fraud charges after the DCI filed an application seeking two weeks to complete the probe into the matter.
Kinoti through Chief Inspector Moses Mnangat urged the court to allow them to continue holding the Suspended FKF president at Capital Hill Police station for 14 days.
“My co-investigator and I are investigating cases of fraudulent acquisition of public property contrary to section 45(1)(a) as read with section 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic crime Act, No. 3 of 2003 as well as failure to comply with any law or applicable procedures and guidelines relating to the procurement and Disposal contrary to section 45 (2)(b) read with section 48 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Act,No 3 of 2003 whicb the respondent (Mwendwa) is a suspect,” Mnangat said.
The court heard investigations into the matter started when a report was launched at DCI headquarters on November 12, 2021 by the Registrar of Sports.
It is said that the Registrar of Sports reported that an inspection committee had been appointed to carry out the inspection on the sports affairs of FKF and that the said committee had established that fictitious money transfers amounting to Ksh 8.5 million were transferred to private bank account including that of Mwendwa and that no documents were availed to justify the transfers.
