It's not uncommon for babies, including those who have been breastfeeding well, to go through phases where they refuse to breastfeed. While there isn't a specific "breastfeeding strike" associated with a certain age range, there are several reasons why a baby might suddenly refuse to breastfeed:

1. Teething: Teething can be uncomfortable for babies, and they may refuse to breastfeed due to sore gums or discomfort while sucking.
2. Distractions: As babies become more aware of their surroundings and more interested in exploring the world around them, they may become easily distracted during breastfeeding sessions. This distraction can lead to shorter nursing sessions or outright refusal to breastfeed.
3. Changes in Routine: Changes in routine, such as starting solid foods, transitioning to a different feeding schedule, or changes in the mother's milk supply (due to factors like returning to work or changes in feeding patterns), can sometimes lead to breastfeeding aversion or refusal.
4. Illness or Discomfort: If your baby is feeling unwell or experiencing any discomfort, they may refuse to breastfeed until they feel better.
5. Developmental Milestones: Around 7 months, babies may start to show more independence and may be less interested in breastfeeding as they become more interested in exploring solid foods and other forms of nourishment.
Here are some tips to help encourage your baby to breastfeed during this time:

🤱Offer the breast in a calm, quiet environment to minimize distractions.
🤱Try breastfeeding when your baby is sleepy or just waking up, as they may be more willing to nurse at these times.
🤱Experiment with different nursing positions to see if your baby prefers one over the other.
🤱Offer comfort and reassurance to your baby if they seem upset or frustrated during breastfeeding attempts.
🤱If teething is causing discomfort, consider offering a cold teething toy or gentle massage to soothe sore gums before breastfeeding.
🤱Be patient and gentle with your baby during this time. It's common for breastfeeding relationships to have ups and downs, and this phase will likely pass with time.
