The 2025 golf season is off to an electrifying start this weekend with double action on two iconic courses!

Vet-Lab Sports Club hosts the first NCBA Golf Series qualifier, welcoming over 200 golfers to its challenging 18-hole course in a battle for top honors in various categories.

Meanwhile, Sigona Golf Club will host the 66th edition of the Sigona Bowl, the prestigious opener of the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) series.

The tournament will feature 156 elite players from Kenya and beyond, including Tanzania, China, Great Britain, Rwanda, and Uganda.

With both events promising high-stakes competition, this weekend is set to deliver unforgettable moments for golf enthusiasts across East Africa!

The Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK), in partnership with NCBA, has organized eight tournaments, including two qualifiers, in preparation for the Magical Kenya Open set for February.

PGK Chairman, CJ Wangai, stated that these tournaments aim to serve as crucial preparation for the prestigious event that will be held at Muthaiga Golf Club from February 20 โ€“ 23.

PGK has eight slots in the global competition.

Wangai emphasized the need for consistent and well-structured tours to ensure professional golfers have adequate opportunities to prepare for international events.

This year, PGK was unable to organize the Safari Tour, which traditionally serves as the qualifier for the Magical Kenya Open.

NCBA has officially launched the 2025 golf season at the historic 1921 Kenya Railway Golf Club with an impressive Sh60M investment to shape the future of golf in Kenya and East Africa.

This year, the bank will support the fifth edition of the NCBA Golf Series, the Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC), Junior Golf Foundation (JGF), and Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) programs.

As part of these partnerships:

โœ… KGU received Sh6 Million to facilitate the 2025 KAGC Series.

โœ… JGF was allocated Sh12 Million to nurture junior talent and expand access to the sport.

Over three days at the prestigious Windsor Golf Hotel and Country Club, Shashwat delivered rounds of 70, 70, and an extraordinary 66 on the final day.

Maryam Mwakitawa has maintained her stronghold on the leaderboard in the Girls' 15-18 Years category at the ongoing NCBA Invitational Tournament at Windsor Golf and Country Club, Nairobi.

On Sunday, Mwakitawa delivered an impressive two-over-par 74, an improvement from her first round of five-over-par 79.

She now leads the category with a combined score of nine-over-par 153 after two rounds.

Hot on her heels is Aundrey Gachora, who matched Mwakitawaโ€™s two-over-par 74 on Sunday after starting with an eight-over-par 80 on the first day.

Gachora holds second place with a total score of ten-over-par 154, just one stroke behind Mwakitawa.

In the Boys' 13-14 Years category, Shashwat Harish remains in dominant form, shooting another two-under-par 70 in the second round to mirror his first-day performance.

Harish leads the group with a remarkable four-under-par 140 heading into the final round.

The NCBA Invitational has drawn over 116 golfers from 10 countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe.

The three-day tournament concludes on Monday.

PGK has eight slots in the global competition. Wangai emphasized the need for consistent and well-structured tours to ensure professional golfers have adequate opportunities to prepare for international events.
