THE RIVER AND THE SOURCE

One night in the smoky hut of Aketch the second wife of the great chief Odero Gogni of Yimbo, a baby was born . It was about thirty seasons before the great snaking metal road of "Jorochere" the white people reached the bartering market of Kisuma. The baby yelled so lastly that the chief strolling around as beffited by his position said " another rock for my sling" by which he meant another son . However for the first time he was wrong . This time he was a father of a daughter. He had graced himself by siring over 20 boys . Later he would be heard saying something of a turn about that " A home without a daughter is like a river without a source "

THE STAGES OF DEVELOPING TALENTS AND CREATIVITY
Many people believe that talent and creativity is inborn. It is not far from the truth. But if you do not pass through some talent development stages, you will not discover your talent and you will die with it without knowing. I have tried to summarize the stages of activating and developing your inborn talent as follows:

1. THE PASSION STAGE
The first stage is discovering that you have uncontrolled passion on something. For example if your talent is writing, you will feel the natural love or passion of having books around you. You will love reading and keenly observing human behaviour. You cannot let a good book pass you, you must read it with passion.

If you have the music talent, you will like to hang around music instruments. You will also like watching musicians performing. You will feel the urge to grab an instrument and play it like them. You will love listening to music and you will be concentrating on the parts of your talent. If you are singer you will be following the vocalists and their words. If you are a guitarist you will listen to the guitar and follow its notes. If you are drummer you will keenly listen to the drums. lf you are in this stage then know that you are talented but in the first stage and you need to step up and go to the next stage to activate your talent.

12 Important Unspoken Social Rules You Should Know.
1. Don't interrupt when someone is talking.
2. Don't judge someone by their appearance. Many people have missed opportunities as a result of it.
3. Always respect someone's personal space.
4. Never assume something about someone. Talk to them if you care.

10. Treat others how you want to be treated.
11. Offer help when you can, but do not be compelled to do so.
12. Don't let your anger control your actions.

THE GARDENER'S SON
A father saw that his 11-year-old son was crying silently. He asked him.
"What's the matter, son?"
The young boy replied.
"My rich classmates mocked, called me son of a gardener. They said that my father lives only on the money he earns from watering and feeding plants for people"
The father paused for a moment, then said.
"Come with me son, let's plant some flowers. It might cheer you up"
He held his hand and walked him to the garden, then he took out some flower seeds, and said.
"Let's carry out an experiment. We will plant two flowers seperately. I will care for one, and you will care for the other. I will water mine with clean water from the lake but you will water yours with dirty water from the pond. We shall see the outcome in the weeks to come"
The son was delighted as he joined his father in planting the flowers. It took them some days to finally germinate the flower seeds. They cared for them respectively and watched them grow.
Later on, the father brought his son to the garden, and said to him.
"Look at the two flowers and tell me your observation"
The boy responded.
"My flower looks better and healthier than yours. How is that even possible when your water is cleaner?"
The father smiled, then said.
"That's because dirty water doesn't stop a plant from growing, rather it serves as organic fertilizer to help it flourish. You see son, there are some people who put you down in life, mock your dreams, and throw dirt on you. Always remember that there's nothing wrong with you, it is their ego they have to satisfy. So, don't let the harsh words from people affect you, instead, let it encourage you into being a better person. And doing so, you will be like the plant and will flourish even in the midst of dirt like negativity and harsh words.

10. Goalkeepers can be changed during a penalty kick.

11. If the ball goes over the crossbar, the game pauses for half an hour to discuss whether it's a goal or not.

Yesterday along Luthuli Avenue in Nairobi, I witnessed a heartbreaking scene that exposed the harsh reality faced by many of the city's hardworking hawkers. The incident involved a Young hawker Ndagire Renova, whose livelihood was ruthlessly disrupted by the Nairobi County Inspectorates, commonly known as Kanjos, who callously poured out his groundnuts.

Hawkers play a vital role in our society, providing essential goods and services to the public. They are often the backbone of the informal economy, working tirelessly to make ends meet and support their families. The incident on Luthuli Avenue highlights the need for a more compassionate approach towards these hardworking individuals.

Governor Sakaja Johnson, in a public commitment, pledged to create a conducive working environment for hawkers, acknowledging their essential role in the city's economy. However, the incident where Nairobi County Inspectorates, under your jurisdiction, callously poured out a hawker's groundnuts raises serious doubts about the sincerity of these assurances.

The hawker I encountered was visibly distraught, and rightfully so. His source Of Income was callously destroyed, leaving him not only without earnings for the day but also emotionally devastated. Such actions by the authorities not only undermine the efforts of these individuals but also contribute to the perpetuation of poverty and hardship. Leaders need to turn promises into actions for the well-being and dignity of the hawking community
