Nigeria has recalled a batch of Benylin Paediatric cough syrup having found "an unacceptable high level" of a potentially fatal toxic substance.

Diethylene glycol has been linked to the recent deaths of dozens of children in Cameroon and The Gambia.

The syrup was manufactured in South Africa in May 2021 and had an expiry date of April 2024.

Today I woke up feeling like my followers should get a piece of law derived from Conveyancing/ Property Law for breakfast. Enjoy😊

Adverse possession;
A person takes possession of land, asserts rights over it and the person having title to it omits or neglects to take action against such person in assertion of the title for a period of 12 years.

Successful if;
1. If the party is in possession of the property continually for 12years.
2. Such possession is adversely excercised with the intention of excluding the whole world from claiming an interest to the property.
The Court is under a duty to declare the party owner of the property, and the judgement is a judgment in rem. Judgement in rem means that the court determines the status of the property on a basis which binds the whole world. Meaning the interest in land transfers to the party in possession absolutely!

A take home.
Don’t allow people/squatters to stay on your property/land for a long time unbothered. Just being in possession of the title to it, is not enough to safeguard your property.
And don’t evict people you are helping with a place to stay because of this, there are measures you can take to safeguard your property and at the same time help your fellow man.

Thomas Fuller, an African sold into slavery in 1724 at the age of 14, was sometimes known as the “Virginia Calculator” for his extraordinary ability to solve complex math problems in his head. He was asked how many seconds there were in a year and a half, he answered in about two minutes, 47,304,000. Again he was asked how many seconds a man has lived who is 70 years, 17 days and 12 hours old, he answered in a minute and a half 2,210,500,800.

One of the men was working out the problems on paper, and informed Fuller that he was wrong, because the answer was much smaller. Fuller hastily replied, "'Top, massa, you forget de leap year." When the leap year was added in, the sums matched.
