Toxic feminism and masculinity impact to Gen Z and future generations.
The world is changing and so are people. It is growing world with the wave of the internet and social media. Young men and women spend a good time of their lives on Facebook, Instagram and X. Everyone, at least those who have smartphones, tablets or laptops,.
One or two scrolls after I log in, my algorithm shows a post by a user with a huge following. I think the post is about how to reduce the price of petroleum or how to leverage on technology to produce more agricultural products for local consumption and for export. I took my time to read the text and the whole six paragraphs, the writer is discussing how career women should view marriage, the age a woman should get married and the value of marriage itself. The writer takes time to discuss why divorces are rampant in our society today compared to the 1980’s. He argues that men are naturally polygamous and women should not question a man when he introduces a second wife. Let’s not talk about a church wedding today. The author is preaching masculinity, and men should embrace this because the modern man is losing his value.
The next post that appears is from a friend who’s shared a post by a women advocate, I hear they’re called feminists. The content is defending those who, according to her, are being exploited by men. The woman is standing her ground .This is a woman who got divorced 5 years ago. She’s trying to find love again after sacrificing her first marriage for her career. She wanted to be lawyer but her man wanted her to be a house wife. She’s lamenting why getting married at 24 ruined her career and life. She has posts with bikinis all over her social media but she is preaching the good news: “wake up women, it’s our time to dominate.”
I know you’ve come across such posts on your timeline. This is a debate among millennials. It’s a competition for social roles because the modern woman doesn’t care about boundaries. She must survive in this world dominated by men who only want to “use women.” A world where men are taking advantage of weak women because they don’t have money and a career in their name.
Now here is the point.
In today’s world, Gen Z is the biggest user of social media, where this debate is transacted. They are larger consumers of this content. They are conflicted between what they’ve been raised up with in their homes as morality and what the online society wants them to take us as ‘’masculine” and ‘’feminine”.
Millennials are debating what they think society should be. These are Gen Z mothers and fathers struggling with identity crises. People who can’t take up their roles and give directions to their children.
We are already seeing the impact of those debates on young girls and men in their early 20’s.
One thing millennials are failing to accept is that they empowered the girl child too much and forgot about the male gender, and if this is not carefully addressed, then we will lose a generation.
It’s such a discussion that needs sobriety without making it look like a struggle for rule. We have not lost it yet.
