15th June 2014 – Mpeketoni will never forget.I remember this Day vividly,a peaceful Sunday. After church I went to play football.we all thought tomorrow would be normal. But the night turned into horror. Al-Shabaab attacked, over 80 innocent lives lost, banks blown up, and one of Kenya’s safest towns became global news for the worst reasons. Alshabaab dragged out Men out of their homes and slaughtered them like goats.
Some pain never fully leaves.
After the attack, President Uhuru Kenyatta deployed KDF and ATPU. Roadblocks were introduced, IDs checked, no night travel in and out of Lamu. Call it strict, call it inconvenient – but it worked. Since then, Lamu has enjoyed peace. Zero major Al-Shabaab attacks in town. Ask anyone from Lamu: those measures saved lives.
But today, I see people like Hussein Khalid and Ahmed Nasir suddenly running campaigns against ATPU and security roadblocks.
Question is – for whose benefit?
Because every time security tightens, some “activists” catch feelings.
Every time Lamu is safe, someone starts crying “rights!”
My friend, rights without security is just English grammar.
We remember very well who defended characters like Sheikh Aboud Rogo – a man who preached division, pushed youth to join Al Shabaab and promoted the “Pwani si Kenya” madness.Hussein Khalid even marched in Mombasa when Togi was eliminated.Demonstrating for a terrorist but complaining about showing an ID?
Priorities, please.
Now the same people are back shouting about ATPU “harassing” the public.
Bro, if showing my ID saves even ONE life, I will show it with a smile and even throw in my Voters card.
khelef Khalifa has been inciting Muslims against Christians. They don't want christians Kikuyu's to be precise to vie and live in Lamu.Lamu is home to ALL – Bajuni, Orma, Sanye, Giriama, Kikuyu, Kamba, Luo, Somali – whoever. Those born here, raised here, and contributing to this soil are part of Lamu.
No one will divide us along tribe or religion.
We will NOT allow terrorist sympathizers to weaken the very forces that keep our people safe.
Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.
Security first. Politics later.
Lamu must remain peaceful, period.
