The dog has been man's most loyal friend. And, as a show of his loyalty to Art, Bob Odhiambo has released his second book, 'The Dog of Nyakach'.

A collection of 'doggy' stories and poetry that he's done with our other friend, Jotham Koli of the speakeasy fame. Dude knows all the drinking holes in Kampala, Uganda.

The thing I like about Bob, Jotham and their book is how real they have decided to get. See, dogs know no shame! A he-dog will mount a she-dog right in the church. As if that's not enough, the two would get stuck and pull each other towards the pulpit!

This here, is a collection of uncensored stories for everyone who feels and lives like a dog!

Church & Bar
(Beer thoughts 🍻)

Just outside my house, there is a church where people do partake matters of the heart. Blessings galore! Directly opposite the church, there is a place where matters the throat are well taken care of. A happy moments place where men find time to discuss a variety of issues ranging from politics, sports and occasionally women while imbibing some frothy stuff made in Ruaraka.

Sooner than later, a lot of truth, English and happiness is witnessed. Occasionally, truths can lead to jabs and blows. It's a church too. My kind of church. Most evenings, you'll find my ilk and I preaching the gospel here. Our favourite Bible verse being "The place where Jesus turned water into wine or The place where Noah was covered by his son."

In this Church of ours, every man is a haunting story that you wouldn't want to be a part of. Each man and woman here is a shell of what they hate to be. Unfortunately, what they hate to be is the truth and what the truth beholds for them.

Sadly, even the people at the real church opposite our "Church" are also shells who hate the truth and that's why they seek comfort from the Bible and Priest. This tells me that ultimately, we are all drunk and sober at the same time and that we have the comforts and hideaway chances we take to keep on dreaming and keep all our hopeless hopes alive.

Patrick Lavince is a lawyer, activist and seasoned poet with a number of feathers decorating his hat or Art. He is a published poet with three books of poems to his name. This, 'Raindrops and Roses' is his fourth collection.

When we at Nib Point Publishers did this children's book, 'Musala and the Forest', we knew it was by far, one of the best children's book on nature and environmental conservation. With scenic illustrations done by our in house illustrator, Bob Odhiambo the book is printed on a smooth, glossy paper that further pronounces the beauty of the story itself.

Musala, a young boy determined to change a community's perception of nature and trees, manages to win hearts and hands, convincing people to plant trees, making a forest out of an otherwise barren land.

They say, trees that don't become coffins become books!

We, at NIB Point Publishers, understand this fact. Our aim is to produce more books than coffins cause our business is with life and the living.

Another tree has been winged to fly, like intercontinental birds of seasonal migrations. Give them rest on your study tables.

Also, 'Musala and the Forest' is a children's book by Ruth Orlale that aims at teaching the younger generation on the importance of trees and afforestation. It is sad that, our forest cover as a country, still staggers at a low 6.1%.

With the right knowledge, like this book, we can teach our kids to take it to 6.9%. Not so much, but a notable improvement. A lucky number for trees!
