This is Kalenjin Music Awards and festival 2024 that was attended by thousands of music fans at Kapkatet Stadium in Kericho County
In Gusii this Crowd would be a political rally or Funeral of a celebrity. No artist can pull such a Crowd in Kisii even if it is a sponsored show. The reason is this;
No creativity
Jealousy
Everyone wants to be a Star with one song
No support from fans and Media houses
Artists are too available in these streets
Longevity of Songs etc
Now there are pioneers of Gusii Urban music who we appreciate for changing the Gusii music industry and through them now we are seeing Young upcoming Artists doing well. However most of these Artists don't support upcoming since they see that they might outsmart them. Once a pioneer Artist sees an upcoming Artist with a talent they will try to misuse the artist. That is how the star is dimmed
Some Musicians don't know how to market themselves, you will get an artist that has no active social media accounts. Some depend on clout chasing, Some are alcoholic. Some chew their fans.
Another thing a musician should have is a rate card! You'll find a musician who has been in the Industry for like 10 years but his/her price is same of the upcoming musician. Sometimes musicians need to know their worth when signing contracts... Rate card Yako inafaa kuwa Yako don't compare with others.
