We were excited to have Obayi at Baraza Media Lab - Industrial Area, a bold, creative storyteller adding fresh voice and laughs to the community.

Obayi is a Kenyan content creator and comedian (often known as “Mama Akoth” online) whose TikTok and social‑media skits have resonated widely, challenging norms, making people laugh, and sparking conversation. Having him at our hub brought that creative spark and sense of community energy that we love at Baraza.

The BAKE Awards 2025 at Baraza Media Lab - Industrial Area was a huge success! Kenya's top creatives converged, embracing the theme 'Reclaiming Our Digital Space' to celebrate the outstanding individuals shaping our online culture. We were honored to welcome Boniface Mwangi to Baraza Media Lab – Industrial Area. A fearless storyteller, activist, photojournalist, and creative force for justice.

Boniface rose to global recognition after documenting Kenya’s 2007–2008 post-election violence through powerful photojournalism. Today, he channels that passion into activism and creative mobilization through his work with PAWA254, a hub that empowers artists, journalists, and youth to use art for social change.

Having him in our space brought a deep sense of purpose, a reminder that creativity and critical consciousness can spark transformation.

We were overjoyed to host Zaituni and Anariko at Baraza Media Lab - Industrial Area!

Zaituni, known for her beautiful, deeply expressive “Urban Taarab” sound that fuses Swahili coastal tradition with modern Afro‑soul vibes, has been quietly rising as a powerful new voice in Kenya’s music scene.

Anariko, a gifted multi‑instrumentalist, composer, and producer, has been the creative force behind Zaituni’s textured, soulful arrangements, including on the track “Tamu” that’s been resonating widely.

Having them together in our hub filled the space with warmth, rhythm and deep storytelling; the kind of magic Baraza Media Lab was built for.
