THE WOODCUTTER'S SONS

An engineer hired a woodcutter to cut down all the trees in his front yard.
His yard was dark and covered with leaves, and so he wanted to let in more sun.

"Cut them into logs, and then move the logs to the other end of the fence. I'll find someone to buy them" the engineer said to the woodcutter.

The following morning, the woodcutter arrived with his two sons to begin the day's work. It was going to be a strenuous day of cutting down ten trees, cutting them into logs, and then moving them to a different spot.

As the woodcutter set about his work and laid out the tools he would need, the engineer watched them through the window from his bedroom.
He didn't move an inch, he just sat on the chair, keeping an eye on them.

He noticed that the younger son of the woodcutter wasn't doing any work. The boy would not assist his father and brother in any way. He only sat in the corner by the wall, eating some apples, and watching them do the heavy task all by themselves. The engineer became sickened by the boy's laziness and selfishness.
"What a spoiled little brat!" he scoffed and closed the window.

By the end of the day, the woodcutter approached the engineer.
He seemed to have finished his work.
Tired and exhausted, he asked him.
"It's all done, sir! Can I get my payment as we discussed for that task?"

After inspecting the yard, the engineer was highly impressed with the work carried out there. He went inside the house and came out with some money, which he handed to the woodcutter. Then he reached in his pocket and pulling out an expensive wristwatch. He said.

"I want you to give this watch to your elder son... it's a gift to him. He's such an amazing kid. I am really Impressed by how he assisted you to do all the work. I know, someday he'll make you proud".
He hesitated for a second, and then continued....."And as for your other son... I'm so disappointed at his behaviour. He showed no interest to work and had no sense of curiosity about the world. You'd better correct him now or he'll grow up to be an undisciplined and irresponsible man"

The woodcutter's face was suddenly cast in a very thoughtful expression. Then he said.
"Sir, there is something you need to know about my younger son. Actually, he used to be a very energetic and hardworking kid. He worked even harder than his elder brother. However, few months ago, he developed a kidney infection that led to the removal of one of his kidneys. In order to keep the remaining kidney healthy, the doctors warned that he should not engage in any strenuous activity. Did you see him eating apples? The fruit is high in fibre and anti-inflammatory compounds that help improve his kidney function"

Upon hearing that, the engineer felt a pang of sympathy and guilt. His heart squeezed in his chest. And then he uttered in a broken voice.
"This must be very hard for him. I'm so sorry for judging your son. I could have asked questions first, rather than passing judgment on him. Indeed, we must never judge a book by its cover... Now, I think that boy deserves something more than a wristwatch. Just wait a second... I'll get him something special".

Moral lesson: Do not pass judgement or make assumptions unless you know the whole story. If in doubt, ask the person directly. Questions clear up confusion and gets us on the same page. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstanding. Be curious, and not judgmental.
May our good God bless you all abundantly.🙏

Two beggars lived in a forest, near a city. Naturally they were enemies, because they were in the same profession and in competition. One was blind and one was lame. And they were always quarreling about their clients.

You don’t know what beggars say about you. They have their clients, they have their territories.

Beggars are continuously fighting. There is great struggle and competition. And those two beggars had been enemies for years. But one day the forest caught fire. The blind man was perfectly able to walk and run, but it was dangerous. He could not see whether he was going in the right direction, where there was no fire, or whether he was running through the fire towards more.

The lame man could not run on his own. And the fire was spreading so fast and the winds were so strong, but he could see that there was still a possibility to get out. There were a few places where the fire had not reached yet. But soon it would be reaching there. Soon, they would be covered by fire from all over the place. They both forgot all their antagonism, competition. This was not the time to fight, this was a time to unite.

And the blind man took upon his shoulders the lame man, and they became one personality. Now they had eyes and they had legs, both. The lame man could see, and direct where they had to run, and fast – and which directions had to be avoided. And the blind man was strong enough to run, carrying the lame man on his shoulders. They came out of the forest without being injured.

Moral

This ancient story is about your mind and your heart. Your heart can see, but cannot say. Your mind can say, but cannot see. If you are capable of bringing your heart and mind closer, your love and logic closer, your experience and expression closer, perhaps mind can also say something significant. It may not be complete, it may not be an entire expression, but it may be an indication in the right direction. It may be a finger pointing to the moon. It may not be the moon, but it can indicate towards the moon.

POSSESS YOUR LAND.

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE:

So Joshua said to the Israelites: “How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has given you?” Joshua 18:3.

TODAY'S WORD:

God had promised to give the Israelites the land of Canaan, but they had to go in and possess the Promised Land. However, instead of taking their swords out and going in, knowing that God would give them the victory, they were afraid of the giants and fortified cities. When Joshua asked them, “How long will you wait?” he was saying that God would do His part, but they had to initiate the blessing, the favor, the victory.

Most of the time, God says to us, “I’ll give you the healing, restore your marriage, turn your child around, pull you out of debt, if you start to believe and speak My Word, which is sharper than a two-edged sword.” It’s a spiritual battle. Standing in faith and declaring His promises will part Red Seas, break addictions, defeat the sickness, and open doors you never dreamed would open. To possess your land, you have to go after what God put in your heart. You can’t be passive. You have to dream big, pray bold prayers, and expect His favor.

PRAYER FOR TODAY:

“Father, thank You for the promise that You always lead me to triumph through Jesus. Thank You that I can take Your promises and keep my faith in agreement with You by believing and declaring that You will bring them to pass. I declare that I will not be passive. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
