Mzito ndge and james story at refugee gardens.

Mzito Ndede, a popular radio presenter at Radio Attanatece 90.1 fm in Kakuma, is known for his vibrant personality and engaging interviews. His show, JUKWAA LA mkristo and NDEGE NA MSANII," Is a platform for the camp's residents and the host community to share their stories, concerns, and hopes. One day, Mzito received an invitation from James Lorot, a local gospel artist and also a boda boda rider to visit the where he gets green vegetable for his wife for business in the Kakuma refugee camp.

Mzito was intrigued by the idea. He had heard about the small gardens that dotted the camp landscape, but he had never had the opportunity to see them up close. He was eager to learn more about how these gardens were helping to sustain the camp's residents.

On the day of the visit, Mzito Ndege and James set off together, walking through the dusty paths of the camp. As they approached the gardens, Mzito was surprised by the lushness of the vegetation. Rows of vegetables, including spinach, kales and kunde, stood tall and healthy, despite the arid surroundings.

James explained that he had been buying green for many years in that area, and he had learned a lot about growing crops in the challenging environment. Farmers uses techniques such as composting and water conservation to maximize his yields.

Mzito was impressed by farmers's knowledge and dedication. He could see how these gardens were providing not only food but also a sense of hope and empowerment for the camp's residents.

"This is amazing," Mzito exclaimed. "I never knew that the place could grow such a variety of crops in this environment."

James smiled. "It takes hard work," he said, "but it's worth it."

James then showed ndege how to pick spinach and kales, explaining that he was going to harvest some for his wife, who sold vegetables in Kakuma Town. Ndege was happy to help, and he carefully selected the best leaves.

As they worked, Mzito and James talked about the importance of gardening in the refugee camp. They agreed that it was not just about providing food, but also about creating a sense of community and self-reliance.

"These gardens are a source of life," ndege said. "They give people hope and a sense of purpose."

James nodded in agreement. "They also help us to save money," he added. "We don't have to buy as much food from the market."

Mzito ndege and James continued to harvest vegetables, their hands working in harmony with the earth. They were surrounded by the sounds of nature – the buzzing of bees, the chirping of birds, and the rustling of leaves. For a moment, they forgot about the challenges of life in the refugee camp.

As they packed the vegetables into a basket, Mzito turned to James and said, "Thank you for showing me your garden. It's been an inspiration."

James smiled. "You're welcome," he said. "I'm glad you could come."

Mzito and James walked back to town, their hearts filled with gratitude. They had witnessed the power of nature to provide sustenance and hope, even in the most challenging of circumstances.
