Marital status - Married to Ann Wanjiku

Children - 4

Born and grew up in Mukurweini in Nyeri county. He attended Kihate Primary School and sat his O levels at Kagumo High School.

After Secondary school, Kagwe went to the University of Nairobi, where he studied Insurance Law before furthering his education at the United State International University USIU, where he undertook a master's degree in business administration.

He was also doing private business at the time.

He rose to the position of commercial director before launching a small independent publishing house and later a Public Relations company

In 2005, the late President Mwai Kibaki appointed Kagwe to his cabinet as the Minister for Information, Communication and Technology ICT.

He returned five years later in 2013, gunning for a seat at the Senate on a Narc Party ticket.

In 2017, he announced his bid for the Nyeri Gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee Party ticket but lost. Again, he stepped away from active politics for two years.

in 2019, he was appointed to the Board of EPRA, the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

On 14 January 2020, former President Uhuru Kenyatta reshuffled his Cabinet and nominated Mutahi Kagwe to take charge of the Ministry of Health.

UPDATE: Kenya is set to herald a new dawn in the treatment of HIV/AIDS as it aims to officially introduce the injectable antiretroviral (ARVs) drugs.

In what will be a significant breakthrough in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the injectable medicine will signal the end of daily ARV pills which have been in use for over the past two decades.

With the new injectable treatment, persons with HIV/AIDS will have the freedom of getting the dose either every two months or once every six months. This would save them the hustle of having to pop the pills everyday and have them at all times.

UPDATE: Paul Busienei(left), Kipchamba (far right) and a friend (Centre) in Bomet Town in 1963; a few months after independence. Paul Busienei was Salomon Manori's co-singer and is famed for the song MAENDELEO KOBO CHITUGUL. The Bicycle that Kipchamba is holding ( a great treasure then) was gifted to him in 1958 by a white settler farmer whom he worked for in Mau Narok before independence. Every evening after the day's work, Kipchamba would passionately entertain his boss at the comfort of his Verandah with a box guitar that he acquired from the proceeds of his employment. It was while in Mau Narok that Kipchamba would compose one of his first songs LOGOEK AB TIMIN that described his personal struggles then as he sought for employment in order to make ends meet.
