Alam nyo ba? 🤔

If you want to greet someone in Japanese by saying "good afternoon" or "good day," the word you want to use is Konnichiwa.

Konnichiwa is actually a shortened version of a full greeting. Over time, a more slang version of the term evolved in the Japanese language.

“Konnichiwa" was once the beginning of a sentence that went, “konnichi wa gokigen ikaga desu ka?,” or “How are you feeling today?” (今日はご機嫌いかがですか？）

Alam nyo ba? 🤔

Etymology of Ohayo
The origin of the morning greeting “Ohayo gozaimasu” is believed to be Kabuki. Kabuki actors take a long time to prepare for a performance. They need to arrive long before the performance begins to get ready. It is said that the phrase “Ohayai otsuki de gozaimasu” (“you have arrived early”) was abbreviated and became the current form of the greeting.

Unlike other greetings, “Ohayo” can be used as an honorific (polite) form of greeting by adding the word “gozaimasu” to it. This is because it is meant to express gratitude to the person you are addressing.
