Wat Arun is an 82m is a Buddhist temple in the Bangkok Yai district. The elaborate details in the art sculpture which defines the style I've not seen before. I know as a mainstream attraction some will avoid this, it's a shame. Popular or not it's an incredible site to take in for yourself if you're lucky enough to get a chance to visit.

About the time we were planning to leave for thailand my friend said he'd not been to Asakusa yet. It'd been years for me since I'd seen it so I was more than happy to go. It's packed, but you know that when you go, so if you're expecting it, that becomes part of the charm. The view down the shops to the lantern commands attention. You get why it's an iconic place for people to snap photos, even if that truth has led to saturation beyond repair rat race late capitalism nightmare fuel, I digress. Really cool snappy shot for your photos. Man oh man I miss Japan. What a fantastic place. The world really is amazing when you get out in it. I think eventually you end up missing everywhere you go. 🇯🇵🇹🇭

These condos make up a huge amount of the real-estate along the BTS sky train line. They're old, new, massive, and definitely feel like a signature part of the landscape. 🇹🇭

I did a brief walk recently at Kiyomizu-dera and found them featuring this work of art. The details are tremendous. Imagining the time and skill it would have taken to create something like this is humbling. Which brings me to my thought. Awe of life is not something we should expect, it's a skill, and like any skill, needs practice. Growing up those who cared less were viewed as cool, collected, smart people. But then you discover later in life those traits cultivated too far become withdrawn and disassociated. The sky is blue. That is incredible, may I never forget that fact.

I hear that a lot of people are not so fond of the Kyoto tower, but I don't know. I think it's kind of cool.

[exerpt from wiki so take it with a grain of salt]

Kyoto Tower was proposed in the early 1960s, and it was planned to be constructed and completed in time to correspond with the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Construction began in 1963 on the former site of Kyoto's central post office and was completed near the end of 1964. Unlike many other towers (such as Tokyo Tower) that are constructed using metal lattice frames, Kyoto Tower's interior structure consists of many steel rings stacked on top of each other.[4] The structure was then covered with lightweight steel sheets with a thickness of 12–22 mm (0.47–0.87 in). The sheets were then welded together and painted white. The intended overall effect was for the tower to resemble a Japanese candle.

Every tonal shift in the colour of the leaves painting the horizon with a proclamation of change. Life does not begin anew when we search out the first darling buds of may, rather, when we ...

Ancient trees, well over 1000 thousand years old can be found in the cemetery of Koyasan, Wakayama, Japan. Not since leaving Canada over 10 years ago have I seen such majesty. Moss grows thick over the tombs here and those most famous for unifying Japan have been laid to rest within its boundaries. For all the gravity of its history the smaller details and sense of peacefulness are the aspects that struck me as most memorable while I walked the paths, carefully tended, by those who mind this sacred space. While it feels odd recommending that you visit a cemetery, I do in this case, without reservation. It was convenient to visit on a sunny day, but I'm certain were you to come in the rain, that intangible feeling of mystery which permeates the grounds, would be intensified tremendously. Regardless of when you can visit and the weather you find yourself in when you arrive, visit Koyasan. It is one the great treasures found in Japan.

Ever in search of the most light-hearted topics for the podcast this episode I chose to focus on the most cheery of all, death. Not only that of course, human evolution found its way in there as well. Finally we get into a discussion of what it takes growing older to avoid become embittered or left behind by life. Golden-G*i in the day! I didn't even think it existed at this time. Yet here it is. For those who don't know Golden-G*i is an extremely compact area of bars in Shinjuku city. To look at it day or night is to wonder at how something like this even comes into existence. Can such a tangle of wires, signs, tight spaces, and questionable wiring be legal? I'm going to guess the words 'gray' and 'area' come up a lot in regards to this part of the city. I've actually been a couple times before and had some really fun nights. For pictures it is of course exceptional. Same rules apply to anywhere in the city of though as someone pointing a lens: be respectful, mindful, and don't be that guy / girl. Check out Golden G*i if you're down for a bit of close quarters drinking in a world that could have been summoned from the pages of a final fantasy story.

Real moments are something to search for when taking a shot. Especially so as they relate to people. I feel like I actually managed to capture one here in Shimokitazawa. Why is it real is a good question as well. What does the 'real' even mean? My answer to that would be - behavior. The simple fact that nothing in the shot is posed and the feeling conveyed by it is familiar in a humanistic way. I have to point out as well the atmosphere being top notch cool grunge. You don't see that sort of thing as much in Tokyo as compared to Osaka but you do find it if you take the time to look. I'd highly recommend checking out the area if you've not been.

Returning to the hipster streets to get this iconic shot of the three way crossing in in Tokyo was a chance to see it with new eyes. New camera plus nighttime made for some moodiness. Verdict after the trip: it was far too short. I'll get back in soon, I'm not even going to say spring because I would like it to be before that that I return.
