We are a group of youth coming from different universities and backgrounds gathered to accomplish a common goal. Our aim is to raise a better, more intellectual individual who intends to change the world to become a better place to live in. Our way to accomplish this is Jordan University Model United Nations (JUMUN). JUMUN is a simulation of the actual United Nations where politically aware partic
ipants discuss vital issues concerning the whole world to attain international law, international security, economic development, social progress and human rights. As well as, experience the process of international decision making. Jordan University MUN aims to educate participants about civics, current events, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. It gives students the opportunity to develop new skills, widen their horizons, change the world, and gain experience that will last for a life time. The first JUMUN conference was held on September 2010 in the parliament building; where the Security Council commission was conducted. Participants discussed the question of “Eliminating Nuclear Energy from the Middle East”. At the end of this fruitful one-day conference, we were glad to hear from the participants that this experience improved their negotiation skills and opened their eyes to another world, the deep world of the MUN. Keeping in mind that participants did not only learn new things but also met new people, gathered new friends from all around Jordan and experienced how amazing it is to have a bilingual conference with immediate English/Arabic translations. Also, an article in the newspaper was published along with television coverage to engrave the memory of the first and successful JUMUN conference into Jordan’s minds
