Leon Barnes, Khari Green, Deajuan Gordon, Dejuan Powell and Garry Bartley are the extraordinary young men who assisted a grade eight student after he was attacked by a grade eleven boy from his school. It was just one of three similar incidents in Jamaica recently.

We join Jamaica's Prime Minister, to celebrate their heroic actions. These five students represent the future that Jamaica MUST fight to save. Let us heal our culture to break the cycle of violence beholding so many Jamaican young people.

A respondent blamed mental health issues affecting Jamaica's children on this: "Children of Jamaica are struggling with mental health [issues] because of numerous reasons, but the main reason is that they do not have a safe space to talk about their problems because their parents disregard their feelings because they are young, so they keep it bottled up".

https://voice.parentsall.org/2023/05/22/bad-parenting-is-damaging-to-childrens-mental-health-according-to-poll/

Children don't like parents who leave them to navigate the pressures of teenage years alone and 87% said that Jamaican parenting styles create mental health challenges in children and youth.

From April this years schools in Barbados can no longer offer 'sugary drinks' as an option, and vendors are banned from selling these products on school compounds.
Do you support the ban?

Drinks with sugar or artificial sweeteners can no longer be sold in schools across Barbados from April this year. The Government there has rolled out a new School Nutrition Policy.

Jamaica's Peace And Love in Society (PALS), kicked off its annual Peace Day concert at the Calabar Infant, Primary and Junior High School in Kingston yesterday under the theme “Be the Peace”. But it was just one of FIWI Schools' favourite Peace Day events, ad the others making our top five include:

Ballard’s Valley Primary's special assembly under the national theme, “Be the Peace”.
Little London Primary School was joined by pastors from local churches like the Little London Methodist Church. Ward unofficially representing the Baha'i Faith.

Selassie High School's Cadet and Drummers walked their community with students from their school, as as from Iris Gelly Primary School and National Basic School. They adapted the slogan, "We Want Peace Now"

And members of the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF) team spent the day at Mineral Heights Primary School.

Jamaica Peace Day is celebrated on the first Tuesday of March each year and aims to create awareness about the need for peace. Read more at:
