Title of Award: PiM 2023 – 21st Anniversary Special - Golden Tongue Awards
Rules, Concept, Emphasis: GTA Opens January 15th & Closes January 31st, 2024.
The Golden Tongue Awards (GTA) shall be awarded to the winner of an Annual Poetry Challenge.
The Challenge: - Each entrant is being asked to write an original poem, creatively depicting and reflecting some or any aspect of Jamaican life in a positive, realistic and socially responsible way. The poems shall be judged by a distinguished panel of adjudicators appointed by our PiM Team.
PRIZES: The winner shall receive the Golden Tongue Awards (GTA), an opportunity to perform at Poetry in Motion 2024, possibly, Jamaica Poetry Festival (JPF) 2024, media features and other incentives. The two runners-up shall receive GTA trophies and promotional exposure at JPF and PiM.
Aims and Objects: The Golden Tongue Award was created to stimulate responsible interest in Poetry and the Literary Arts, generally. It is hoped that this will inspire and promote social awareness among Jamaicans and instil a sustainable interest in social-responsibility, creative writing, literature and Jamaica’s cultural heritage.
Who Can Enter: The Golden Tongue Awards is open to all ages and each Jamaican citizen currently living in the island of Jamaica. However, the works will be judged on merit within the context of age and interpretation of the challenge. Previous year winners shall sit out one year.
How to Enter: Submit a poem along with the entry form which is available via email, several social-media platforms and our Poetry in Motion - Face Book Page. You may request it at [email protected]. The form also provides the relevant details.
Concept-Method: In the initial stages, the awards shall be given to the winners of the PiM Golden Tongue Awards Poetry Challenge that shall be promoted in Jamaica. GTA is for all with an emphasis on the youth and with the assistance of educational institutions. As the GTA develops, it shall include short stories, essays, letters, skits/plays and visual arts and shall extend to the Jamaican Diaspora.
Overtime, we aim to publish some of the poems entered in Our Golden Tongue Anthology.

Write an original poem that creatively depicts and reflects some aspect(s) of Jamaican life in a positive, realistic and socially-responsible way. Winners of the previous year shall sit out one year.
Rules - The Poetry in Motion’s Golden Tongue Award is open to any Jamaican who can write an original poem which shall be adjudicated by a distinguished panel appointed by our PiM Team.
All poems submitted must be original and written independently by the entrants. Permission/Approval must be given by parent/guardian or teacher to entrant under18 years.
The organizers will take no responsibility for the copyright© of the works or for any infringement of rights that the entrants might be guilty of.
The poems submitted cannot otherwise be used without the permission of the entrant, they are only for promotional purposes relating to the Golden Tongue Awards.
PRIZES
The winner and runners-up will each receive a trophy, media features and other incentives. The winner also gets to perform at Poetry in Motion 2024 and likely Jamaica Poetry Festival 2024.
Entrance opens Sunday, January 15th, 2024 and closes Tuesday, January 31st, 2024.
