Gallery Magazine

Gallery Magazine We're just a gallery of a small island. There are bigger magazines, smaller magazines, expensive magazines, cheap magazines. We are just a gallery.

Dedicated to keeping Jersey media slightly better than average, Gallery is an open creative media forum (magazine) that seeks to amuse and entertain.

What's so 'millionaire' about millionaire's shortbread? We asked three chefs to create their own spin on the desert, creating dishes worthy of the name.

Thank you to L'Horizon, Pomme d'Or and the Grand for working with us on this one.

We had Project Trident students at Gallery for over a decade, vying with The Animal Shelter as the most popular place a 16 year old wanted to spend their designated two weeks in the working world. With a lot of the Gallery team caught up having kids of our own and the whole home-working thing, it's meant that it's been a while since we've been able to inspire young minds in this way.

Our milestone 20th birthday got us feeling nostalgic, so we tracked down some of our Gallery alumni to see what they've been doing since we set them out on interviews and coffee runs. From careers in media, law, medicine, teaching and zoology, it's fair to say that they've ended up doing some pretty interesting stuff.

Running is one of the easiest things to flit in and out of. It's easier to give up than Duolingo, and more tempting to postpone than changing your bedsheets. Ceri founded See Her Run () so that girls who wanted to run non-competitively had a place to go and do it.

The club meets down at Freedom Tree every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, with bag drop at 4:15 to start at 4:30. You don't have to sign up before, so it's completely noncommittal, meaning on those tired days when you're on your period and all you want to do is rot and watch Greys Anatomy, you absolutely can do that too. Ceri and her girls will still be waiting for you next time.

Sneak a peak of Oliver Doran’s 40 over 40 Exhibition, taking place this weekend at the Radisson Blu. The dynamic visual celebration challenges societal norms around aging, highlighting the powerful stories of women who continue to inspire and redefine what it means to grow older. The stunning, black and white portraits showcase each woman’s unique beauty, wisdom and individuality.

As Gallery turned 20 this issue, we thought we’d ask Oliver’s muses what advice they’d give to their 20 year old selves. Pick up a copy of Gallery, or go to the following link, to find out more: https://www.gallery.je/people/4020-reflections/

Millie Robins () channels her love for the 80s in her debut single "Out On My Own," blending retro synth-pop with a dark, dreamy vibe. Inspired by her dad's favourite music, alongside powerful female vocalists, Millie's track blends the past and the present together in a timeless fusion of sounds.

Kazia Guzik () headed to London Stadium to capture fashion's essence in timeless black and white shots. She writes "while many photographers flock to the runway, there's something about behind behind the scenes that captivates me more. The buzz of last-minute adjustments, the energy of models getting ready, and the genuine, unfiltered moments are where the magic truly happens".

We love seeing the work of Jersey's Architecture community and last night we attended the opening of the JAC Design Awards Exhibition at Capital House, where the island’s architects, supported by the Jersey Architecture Commission, have taken up residence until the 20th October. If you like house p**n, swing by in your lunch break and see all the projects shortlisted for awards this year or for the latest events as part of architecture week.

We went down to the Art in the Arches launch event, celebrating five artists' work down at Elizabeth Marina the past few months. Together they've completed 15 murals across the harbour's arches, which explore the theme of water and our relationship to it.

Special thanks to and who sponsored the project.

Artists: Zara Le Cornu () , Will Bertram ( ), Robert Allan(), Lucy Oates () and Oli Nightingale ().

Sarah Woolf () is a 22 year old graduate from Jersey, who recently finished her degree in Interior Architecture and Design. Torn between her love for fashion and her love for architecture, Sarah spent an extra year exploring how the two disciplines interrelate. She left the fabrics for something a little more concrete, creating 'Generation Junction' for her final exhibition. She designed the community-centric space around the unique needs of our island, with the main aim to create a space for social connections to be fostered.
