🎙 Ep. 2218 of the Italian Wine Podcast and Everybody Needs a Bit of Scienza, where Professor Scienza takes questions from the international wine community and answers them in his own inimitable way! These shows are generally in the Italian language.

🎧 Listen: https://loom.ly/ekHEYkE

Today’s questions:
- What's your opinion about the new Chianti Classico UGA classification system of 11 villages that started with the 2020 vintage?
- Does this help the customer to understand the style of a particular wine or is it more about the geographical location of the producer inside Chianti Classico zone, where each makes wine "with their own taste"?
- In your opinion, is there a more pragmatic and more accessible NEXT STEP to understanding the differences in wines from different "corners" of this fairly large wine zone?

Sesta di Sopra, a 44-hectare estate south of Montalcino near Castelnuovo dell’Abate, was purchased in 1980. The restored farmhouse, likely an ancient watchtower, is surrounded by 2.8 hectares of vineyards and olive groves. Planted in the 1990s with Sangiovese Grosso clones, the vineyards are carefully managed using modern techniques on calcareous, medium-textured soils that ensure low yields and high-quality grapes. The oldest Brunello vineyard is 29 years old, while the rest average 10 years.
