🌿 ᖇᗩᖴᗩᑎEᒪᒪO (O ᖇᗩᐯᗩᑎEᒪᒪO)
Nome volgare del Raphanus sativus L. pianta della famiglia Crocifere, che secondo alcuni autori sarebbe una sottospecie, ottenuta con la coltura, del R. raphanistrum L. (v. rafanistro). È pianta annua o bienne, con fusti ramificati: fiori bianchi, lilla o gialli riuniti in racemi: frutti a siliqua lomentacea, acuta o lungamente acuminata, con pochi semi. A seconda delle varietà le radici presentano un diverso aspetto: la varietà oleifer DC. ha la radice rossa, allungata e gracile, la var. radicula Pers. la presenta invece rossa globoso-depressa più o meno grossa, la var. niger Mill. ha la radice nerastra globoso-oblunga o allungata cilindrica. Le varietà a radice carnosa sono coltivate negli orti, perché vengono mangiate come ortaggi per il loro sapore piccante gradevole. Le forme orticole sono numerosissime e si riuniscono in: rafanelli di tutti i mesi, rafanelli d'estate o d'autunno e rafanelli d'inverno.

Common name of Raphanus sativus L., a plant of the Brassicaceae family, which according to some authors would be a subspecies, obtained through cultivation, of R. raphanistrum L. (see radish). It is an annual or biennial plant, with branched stems: white, lilac, or yellow flowers gathered in racemes: fruits in lomentaceous silique, acute or long acuminate, with few seeds. Depending on the varieties, the roots present a different appearance: the oleifer DC. variety has a red, elongated, and slender root, the radicula Pers. variety presents it instead as a red, globose-depressed, more or less large root, the niger Mill. variety has a blackish, globose-elongated or cylindrical root. Varieties with fleshy roots are cultivated in vegetable gardens because they are eaten as vegetables for their pleasant spicy flavor. There are numerous horticultural forms that come together in: radishes of all months, summer or autumn radishes, and winter radishes.
