Argentinas: La galleria Solocontemporaneo presenta cinque artiste argentine “nomadi”
(quattro pittrici e una scultrice) che vivono o hanno
vissuto e lavorato in Sud America, Nord America

The Arturo E. Mosquera: I AM NOT A POET exhibition was presented at The Olga & Carlos Saladrigas Gallery of the Ignatian Center for the Arts in Miami, and curated by Angela Valella. This solo show featured over 150 artworks, including paintings, sketchbooks, videos, and an installation of the artist’s personal belongings, which served as sources of inspiration throughout his career. A full-color catalog accompanied the exhibition, featuring essays by Angela Valella and William Cordova, both renowned artists and cultural practitioners who have previously curated exhibitions of Mosquera's work.

“We are honored to host this impressive collection of art featuring the work of one of our own,” said Fr. Guillermo M. García-Tuñón, S.J. ‘87, President of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School. “I remember Arturo as a student at Belen, and I am familiar with his art thanks to his father’s dedication to keeping his son’s memory alive. We are fortunate to have the Saladrigas Art Gallery on our campus to house this exhibition"

"By repurposing industrial spaces for cultural purposes, we breathe new life into them," said Marcelo Llobell, co-founder of DORCAM (Doral Contemporary Art Museum), the newest museum in the Miami area, in an interview with Global Miami Magazine.

Last December, we visited the executive offices of the museum, where Marcelo Llobell treasures a large collection of works by Nela Arias-Misson, a Cuban artist who played an important role in the abstract expressionist movement. Arias-Misson, a cuban artist who lived in Cuba, the United States, and Europe.

To commemorate World Photography Day, we chose Edward Burtynsky for his commitment to giving voice and image to the human actions on our planet,
Burtynsky captures humanity's impact on the natural world.
Quoting his own words:

"We come from nature. There is an importance to [having] a certain reverence for what nature is because we are connected to it... If we destroy nature, we destroy ourselves."

– EDWARD BURTYNSKY
"These images are meant as metaphors to the dilemma of our modern existence; they search for a dialogue between attraction and repulsion, seduction and fear. We are drawn by desire - a chance at good living, yet we are consciously or unconsciously aware that the world is suffering for our success. Our dependence on nature to provide the materials for our consumption and our concern for the health of our planet sets us into an uneasy contradiction. For me, these images function as reflecting pools of our times."

Images and texts taken from Edward Burtynsky website and Flowers Gallery.

Bill Viola said "There's another world out there just beyond the world we're in. It's just on the other side of that translucent, semi-transparent surface"
A visionary artist who profoundly explored the mysteries of life and death through his innovative video installations, passed away on July 12, 2024. Known for his deeply spiritual work, Viola's art delved into themes of existence, consciousness, and the transcendent. His installations were not merely visual experiences but meditative journeys, inviting viewers to contemplate the deeper aspects of human experience.

We are sharing some images from the official Bill Viola studio Instagram account, honoring his legacy.

His contributions to the art world will continue to inspire and resonate, opening new roads of interpretation.

ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN

Ed Ruscha has consistently held up a mirror to American society by transforming some of its defining attributes—from consumer culture and popular entertainment to the ever-changing urban landscape—into the very subject of his art. In 1956, Ruscha left Oklahoma City to study commercial art in Los Angeles, where he drew inspiration from the city’s architectural landscape—parking lots, urban streets, and apartment buildings—and colloquial language.

As his first comprehensive, cross-media retrospective in over 20 years, ED RUSCHA / NOW THEN traces Ruscha’s methods and familiar subjects throughout his career and underscores the many remarkable contributions he has made well beyond the boundaries of the art world. The exhibition includes his early works produced while traveling through Europe, his installations—such as the Chocolate Room and the Course of Empire presented at the Venice Biennale in 1970 and 2005, respectively—and his ceaseless photographic documentation of the streets of Los Angeles beginning in 1965.

Frank Stella died today. A great figure of the America XX Century art. This published piece belongs to Jorge Perez and it was exhibited as part of a recent exhibition at in Miami
Quoting the New York Times:
"Frank Stella, Towering Artist and Master of Reinvention, Dies at 87
He moved American art away from Abstract Expressionism toward cool minimalism. His explorations of color and form were endlessly discussed and constantly on exhibit.
In an admonition to critics, he insisted that “what you see is what you see” — a formulation that became the unofficial motto of the minimalist movement"

The Venice Biennal. President Pietrangelo Buttafuoco and Adriano Pedrosa presented the 60th International Art Exhibition ( , 20 April > 24 November 2024) to the press. We are quoting the words of , Curator of this exceptional edition:
."Thank you so much to all the people who have made and supported this Exhibition. I couldn’t be more grateful. This is quite an extraordinary journey started in 2022. With the double title I wanted to stress the linguistic dimension and the issues around translation, as well as fighting xenophobia and racism." Adriano Pedrosa

"We have the largest number of artists of several countries in the history of the Biennale. The largest amount of Africans, latinamericans, Asians, Middle Eastern artists, Arab artists"

"Uno de los enfoques principales son los artistas indígenas, porque los indígenas son frecuentemente tratados como extranjeros en su propio territorio"

"Grazie a tutte le persone che hanno realizzato e sostenuto questa Mostra. Non potrei essere più grato. Quello iniziato nel 2022 è stato un viaggio straordinario. Con il doppio titolo volevo sottolineare la dimensione linguistica e le problematiche legate alla traduzione, oltre a combattere la xenofobia e il razzismo." Adriano Pedrosa

This images are from the general program of the Biennale, placed in both Giardini and Arsenale.
