What Rules - Demli

What Rules is a five-member Pop-Rap group from Baden, Switzerland.
Catchy melodies combined with thought-provoking lyrics make up their musical style. They are shaped by great role models, such as Eminem or One Republic, but each band member comes up with their own ideas in different ways. Even the jingle of the train announcement can be a source of inspiration.
The single "Demli" by What Rules humorously and critically addresses the fascination and allure of gossip. Beri, the singer of the band, plays with the term "tea," which is slang for gossip. This is symbolically represented through the preparation of strong, aromatic Turkish black tea. It highlights how socially ingrained and entertaining gossip can be.
The lyrics emphasize that gossip is not just a superficial pastime, but also offers a way to exchange information and maintain relationships – albeit not always with the best intentions. The lines play with the idea that "demli" stands not only for the drink, but also for the intensity and spice of life, which is reflected in conversations and stories. The song conveys a mix of enjoyment, excitement, and a cautious distance from gossip culture, inviting listeners to reflect on their own attitudes towards it with a wink.

Patricia Lazzara (concert flute) has distinguished herself as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. A 3-time winner of the Artists International Competition, she has performed at Carnegie Hall several times and at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. She is a winner of many awards including the Florida Flute Association Performers Grant for Advanced Study and a Winner of the National Flute Association Convention Performers Competition.

On piano is Dave Malyszko. Dave has served as soloist, accompanist, and ensemble member for a wide variety of performances in a multitude of genres. As a soloist, he has appeared with the Jersey City State College Symphonic Orchestra, the Jersey City Symphony of Winds and Percussion, and the Assisi Performing Arts Concert Series in Assisi, Italy. OAs a collaborative pianist, Dave has accompanied numerous singers and instrumentalists in venues such as college and high school theatres, performing arts centers, houses of worship, and libraries. He has also played for various classes and auditions at the Paper Mill Playhouse, Montclair State University, New Jersey City University, Middlesex County College, and Plays in The Park in Edison, New Jersey.

Steve Markoff is known for his creativity and warm interpretive style on alto flute, which has been described by professionals & reviewers with such words as “formidably expressive”, “heartfelt”, “stunning”, “emotional” and “poignant”. His alto-flute performances have received acclaim from numerous critics and music reviewers.

Claudia D’Aguanno (alias Cloudïa) è una giovane cantautrice nata a Palermo ma romana d’adozione dall’età di 7 anni. Sin da piccola si è lasciata cullare con estrema passione dalla musica, intraprendendo poi la carriera di cantante, autrice e compositrice ottenendo a soli 22 anni il titolo di Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Popular Music presso Sonus Factory a Roma.

Un errore di battitura su una mail ricevuta da Sia, nota cantante di fama internazionale, costituisce l'origine del suo nome d’arte: Cloudïa. Rappresenta inoltre la fusione fra il suo nome di battesimo e la parola ‘Cloud’, ‘nuvola’ in inglese. Questo elemento naturale raffigura per l'artista un simbolo che più di tanti altri è in grado di incarnare l’essere umano e la sua anima in tutte le sue sfaccettature.

Dopo aver collezionato diverse esperienze musicali di vario e genere e calcato palchi quali ‘Auditorium Parco della Musica’, ‘Piper’, ‘Roxy Bar’ e tanti altri, è pronta quest’anno a fare uscire sei nuovi inediti, nati dalla collaborazione con il produttore e compositore Giordano Maselli.
Il 2024 sarà in effetti un anno di “rinascita”. Una rinascita personale e musicale che si percepirà con l’avvento dei nuovi singoli.
Non a caso il primo ad uscire a Novembre è stato ‘No But’; un brano che parla della nascita di una tra le più spontanee e spensierate storie d’amore. Uno di quelli che ti fa dimenticare che nella vita si possono collezionare tanti momenti difficili o esperienze da dimenticare. Un brano che fa riscoprire la semplicità di questo incredibile sentimento, nonostante sia intriso di milioni di sfaccettature. Sarà una ventata di freschezza e leggerezza che riporterà in questa stagione un pò di quel brio che solo l’estate può regalare.
E, a proposito di estate, a Gennaio in uscita il singolo ‘My House By The Sea’ che descrive un ricordo della cantante legato all’infanzia e scaturito da una foto; in particolare quello di un compleanno passato alla sua casa al mare, in Sicilia. Foscolo diceva che la poesia aveva una funziona eternatrice. In questo caso, con malinconia e gioia, la foto e la stessa canzone, fanno rivivere ricordi materialmente perduti nell’immaginario di ciascun ascoltatore.
