Frank Frazetta, the godfather of fantasy art, (February 9, 1928 - May 10, 2010) was born into a Sicilian family in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. His father, Alfonso Frazzetta, was a hard-working, first-generation Italian immigrant who married Mary, a New York native. In a modest Brooklyn home, they raised Frank Frazetta, the eldest, and his three sisters, Adele, Carol, and Jeanie. According to Frazetta and his immediate family, he became a paid artist as a toddler when his grandmother paid him a single penny in exchange for a crayon drawing.

Once Alfonso and Mary realized their son’s undeniable talent, at a mere eight years old, Frank Frazetta was enrolled in the Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts where he would study under an award-winning Italian fine artist, Michele (Michael) Falanga. “I still remember the professor, Michele Falanga, and his face filled with skepticism as I signed myself in. He sat me down and asked me to copy a postcard featuring a group of realistically rendered ducks.When he returned to see how I progressed, he snatched up my drawing exclaiming, “Mama mia!” and ran off waving it in the air for everyone to look at,” chuckled Frazetta.

It is undeniable that Frank Frazetta is one of the greatest illustrators of the fantasy world. Even stars of the big screen such as Clint Eastwood, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Sylvester Stallone have commissioned movie posters from him.

In fact we are honored to soon present the Frazetta Fantasy Tarot, a collection of all his best drawings enclosed in one unique Tarot deck.

The prickly nature of Holly, as well as its red berries, associates it with Mars and warfare, though its evergreen leaves bring the promise of life and grant associations of Venus and the element of fire, as holly wood is said to burn particularly hot. Holly is known as Tinne in the Celtic Ogham and is associated with the crown, such as the thorny crown of Christ, with justice and sacred kingship. Displayed in this oracle is the Holly King, the animating spirit of Holly, ruling the winter and associated with Yule and the Green Knight in Arthurian myth, in opposition to the brighter Oak King of the Summertide. Its use as a seasonal decoration is also due to its protective nature, as the Yule in folklore was a time of ghosts and malevolent spirits just as much, if not more so, than Samhain. Planted near graveyards and churches, it protects you from hostile spirits. Holly is also used to protect from lightning. Holly is said to help with magickal travel or astral flight, for the shape of the leaves is reminiscent of bat’s wings, and is referred to as such in some herbal codes. This work was created by the Chilean artist and researcher Patricio Diaz Silva between 2010 and 2014. Based on his studies of Masonic symbolism and taking as models the arcana of the tarot, he imagined a synthesis to show the integration and interaction between the two systems of self-knowledge. The structure of this tarot organizes the deck in 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 Minor Arcana cards and is based on the four elements of alchemy: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air ✨ EARTH. Represented by the mallet. A tool with which the Masons symbolize work on stone, which is the hard layer of the earth. WATER. Represented by the chalice. It is the container of blood or wine and represents the world of emotions. FIRE. Represented by gold. This metal reaches its beauty and purification by the action of fire. AIR.
