"Setting Your Intentions"

Today, we're going to explore the power of intention-setting and create a vision board for your acting career.

What is a vision board?
A vision board is a visual representation of your goals and desires. It's a powerful tool to help you stay focused, motivated, and committed to achieving your dreams.

Why set intentions?
Setting intentions helps you clarify your goals, prioritize your time and energy, and create a roadmap for success.

How to create a vision board:

1. Gather materials: Magazines, scissors, glue, board or paper, and any personal items that inspire you.
2. Reflect on your goals: What do you want to achieve in your acting career? Write down your short-term and long-term goals.
3. Cut out images and words: Find images and words that resonate with your goals and desires.
4. Create your board: Arrange your images and words in a way that feels intuitive and inspiring to you.
5. Add personal touches: Include personal items like photos, quotes, or fabric that motivate you.
6. Display your board: Place your vision board in a spot where you'll see it daily, reminding you of your intentions and goals.

Tips:

- Make it personal and meaningful to you.
- Focus on the feeling, not just the outcome.
- Keep it positive and empowering.

By setting your intentions and creating a vision board, you'll be taking the first step towards manifesting your dreams and making your acting career a reality.

Share your vision board with me! I would love to see what you create

"Meet Breffu, the Akan Princess (Ghana) Who Led a Slave Revolt in the Caribbean!

In 1733, Breffu, an enslaved Akan princess, masterminded a rebellion against Danish colonizers on the island of St John. She and her fellow rebels seized control of the island, establishing an Akan Kingdom in the Caribbean.

Breffu's bravery and leadership inspired 150 enslaved Akans to join the revolt. Although the rebellion was eventually crushed by French troops, Breffu's legacy lives on.

The story goes thus...

In November of 1733 enslaved Africans in the Caribbean island of St John, led by an Akan princess named Breffu, rebelled against their Danish captors, seized control of the island & established an Akan Kingdom in the Caribbean, in one of longest slave revolts. The rebellion was carried out primarily by enslaved Akan from the Akwamu Kingdom in the Gold Coast (Present day Ghana & Ivory Coast). It was masterminded by an Akan princess named Breffu, who was enslaved by Pieter Krøyer, a plantation owner from Denmark. Breffu approached King June, another enslaved Akan royal from Akwam with her plan to massacre the slave owners and the Danish soldiers stationed on the Island. Together they succeeded in rallying 150 Akan slaves to their cause. Many non Akan slaves refused to join the rebellion. Their plan was to first seize Fort Fredericksvaern, a heavily fortified military stronghold on Coral Bay. After that, a signal would be given to commence the massacre. Breffu & the other rebels began stealing knives & hiding them in firewood bundles. On the evening of November 23rd, 1733, King June & a handful of
slaves were allowed through the gates of Fort Fredericksvaern to deliver firewood as they routinely did every week.Once inside the Fort, the Slaves retrieved the knives they had hidden in the firewood bundles. With the knives, they managed to overpower & kill every single soldier in the Fort, except one who was able to escape. After they had taken control of the Fort, they fired the cannons 3 times to signal to the other rebels that the raid on Fort Fredericksvaern had been successful. When Breffu & the other rebels heard the signal, they grabbed knives & began killing all their slave masters. Breffu killed her owner Pieter Krøyer & his wife. She then went to the home of Van Stell, the wealthiest man on the Island & killed three members of the plantation owner's family. The Rebels then went from door to door killing every single European in sight. Many other enslaved Africans banded together & started fighting against the Akan rebels to protect their slave masters. As a result, many Blacks were also killed by the rebels. The rest of the Europeans on the Island fled to the coast, jumped in ships & boats & escaped to the neighboring slave island colony of Martinique, which was under French rule at the time. After the revolt, the rebels declared the Island the new Akwamu kingdom with Breffu as Queen. When news of the revolt reached Denmark, many Danish merchants and slave traders pleaded with their king to intervene & retake the Island. King Christian VI of Denmark reached out to France, which had the largest & most powerful military in Europe at the time. The Danish merchants and slave traders successfully negotiated a deal with the French to recapture
the island. In April 1734, thousands of French troops from Martinique launched an assault on St John. After a bloody campaign, the French managed to retake control of the island. Breffu & the rebels retreated to Fort Fredericksvaern to make their last stand. The Fort was then
surrounded and bombarded by French troops. After French troops managed to blow the gates open, Breffu and 23 surviving Rebels committed su***de. The Island was then returned to Denmark. A plantation owner recorded his surprise that, "one of the leaders of the rebellion, Breffu,
whom none of us knew, and whom we assumed to be a man having murdered my son Pieter Krøyer and his wife, is a woman!" Today the Island of St John is part of the U.S Virgin Islands, & an American overseas territory. Breffu is a national Hero in the U.S Virgin Islands and is fondly remembered as the Queen of St John.

Today, she is remembered as a national hero in the U.S Virgin Islands, where the island of St John is located. Her story is a testament to the power of resistance and the fight for freedom.

Let's honor Breffu's memory by sharing her story and celebrating her courage!

SPREADING JOY ONE FROSTY AT A TIME! USA

Meet Curtis Chambers, a Wendy's cashier who went above and beyond to make a little girl's day special! Not only did he sing her "Happy Birthday" in front of a long line of customers, but he also bought her and her brother a frosty with his own money!

"Today, as we were on the way to visit family, we stopped at the Wendy's off 211 in Candor. What happened next just made my family's day.
We walked in and heard 'Come on up here pretty lady and let me take your order!' The cashier/man behind the counter was speaking to the lady in front of us. He was all smiles and full of joy!
When our turn came, he started joking with the kids. Ella chats him up and proceeds to tell him that tomorrow was her birthday.
This man...this cashier, who does not know us from Adam, asks everyone in line (LONG line, beach traffic) to please give him just a second.
He comes around the counter, scoops our little Ella into his arms and sings her happy birthday. Several other guests chimed in with him. It was PRECIOUS!
Not stopping there, he pulls money out of his own pocket and bought Ella and Davis a frosty!
This man's name is Curtis Chambers.
Curtis, our family was Blessed to meet you and I'm sure you Bless every single person you come in contact with!
Joy is CONTAGIOUS! Spread Joy! Love God, love people!"

Our comment:

Curtis, you're a true blessing and a reminder that joy is contagious! Keep spreading love and kindness wherever you go!

In 2001, 69-year-old Pat Skinner underwent surgery to remove part of her colon at St. George Hospital in Sydney. However, she experienced severe abdominal pain for several months following the procedure.

Ultimately, she insisted that doctors perform an x-ray on her abdomen. This led to the discovery of a 6.7-inch pair of scissors inside her body, which were subsequently removed in October 2002

"Trust your instincts and advocate for yourself!

Pat Skinner's story teaches us that:

Listening to your inner voice and intuition can be lifesaving.

Advocating for yourself, especially in medical situations, is crucial.

Perseverance and persistence can lead to truth and resolution.

Never give up on seeking answers and solutions, even when faced with skepticism or dismissal.

Remember, you know your body best

“I brought home a homeless person when I was a kid. His mother abandoned him when he was away at school. When the school year ended, he went home and there wasn't anyone living there, no note, phone number, or forwarding address. So, he was just sitting in the park, in the rain. I found him, brought him home, and introduced him to my mother. She took him in and he is still a part of our family. My mother is an amazing, loving grandmother to his children. That was 24 years ago.
The picture is of him and my mom taken last week at his daughter’s college graduation.”
- PAT DALTON

Compassion and kindness can change lives

This incredible true story teaches us that:

Family is not just about blood ties, but about the love and care we show each other.

Everyone deserves a second chance and a supportive community.

Selfless acts can have a ripple effect, impacting generations to come.

Let's strive to be like this amazing mother, opening our hearts and homes to those in need. You never know the difference it can make

Two aspiring actors, Alex and Ryan, moved to Hollywood with big dreams. Both had talent, passion, and dedication. But only one achieved stardom.

Alex focused on fame, constantly comparing himself to others and seeking validation from social media. He auditioned for roles he wasn't right for, trying to force his way into the spotlight.

Ryan, on the other hand, focused on craft, honing his skills through classes, workshops, and taking on diverse roles. He built genuine relationships with industry professionals and learned from rejection.

Years later, Ryan became a household name, known for his nuanced performances. Alex, however, struggled to book gigs, feeling bitter and defeated.

What differentiated them? Ryan's willingness to put in the work, stay humble, and trust the process. He understood that success is a marathon, not a sprint.

Let this be a reminder that true success in the film industry comes from dedication, perseverance, and a willingness to learn. Keep working on your craft, stay focused, and believe in yourself

These are some of the biggest challenges faced by African aspiring actors especially in a country like Cameroon where the industry is still naive and unexposed.

- Limited opportunities: Fewer roles and productions available compared to other regions and countries. In the CGI( English speaking film industry) in Cameroon, You can count the number of movies made every year and those that even get to see the screens and be enjoyed by film lovers. Of about 50 films announced each year, you can barely find 5 of them in cinemas or even on your screens

- Stereotyping: Being typecast in limited, stereotypical roles. These are challenges faced by actors who yearn to perform and showcase their talents and abilities in diverse roles. In the CGI, once you play a particular role in one movie very well, you will likely be casted in the same range of roles across your career. This is especially true with the Nigerian Film industry - NOLLYWOOD

- Lack of representation: Underrepresentation in global media and international productions. With the industry still very unexposed, even the few movies that get to see international festivals end up dying under the spectrum for lack of adequate media coverage. For example, a movie like "The planters plantation" by Eystein Young that has gathered numerous international nominations and awards is not even been talked about across the Cameroon media. How then can a film maker and films like that blow into other countries and regions

- Funding: Limited access to resources, training, and funding for projects. It is not a secret that very few actors have access to proper training wether formerly or informally. Very few schools exist that train actors to prepare them for the competitive industry ahead of them. Unlike in other countries where there are heavy investments in educational facilities and training academies for film and actor training. Ruphina's House is one of such facilities located in Bamenda

- Infrastructure: Inadequate film industries and production facilities in some African countries.

- Cultural and language barriers: Breaking into international markets with diverse cultural and language requirements.

- Networking: Building connections and networking opportunities.

- Training and mentorship: Access to quality training, mentorship, and guidance. With a focus on the informal mentorship of talented actors by experts and veterans in the field

- Visa and immigration issues: Navigating international work permits and visasls. Africa and it's migration problems are no secret to any film enthusiasts and upcoming actor.

- Self-doubt and perseverance: Overcoming rejection and staying motivated. With little or no pay, it is not easy to remain motivated and to persevere in the industry. Worst is a country like Cameroon where you are called up to act for free.

- Lack of and inadequate government support. The statement explains itself.

Keep in mind that these challenges vary across countries and individuals. Many African actors have successfully overcome these obstacles and achieved international recognition. Our focus is on the greatest majority and the in the talent that goes untapped because of these aspects
