In Defense of Alfa Romeo, a Brand I Don't Want To See Leave North America

Stellantis is in a bothersome spot at the moment. Anyone who's been paying even an iota of attention could've told you that. We need not re-hash the reasons why for the umpteenth time. But what it means is more than a few brands under this massive multi-national corporate umbrella could potentially be on the chopping block in the near future. Say what you will about shedding no tears if Chrysler or Fiat bites the dust. As far as Chrysler goes, it should've gone extinct at least three or four times by now, regardless.

Grupariata, Calabria's unique red focaccia

Bread has a central role in Italian cuisine, with each region proudly promoting its own distinct varieties, textures, and flavors. The delicious and humble focaccia is the same: from the soft and fluffy focaccia barese, topped with cherry tomatoes and olives, to the richly layered sfincione siciliano, often considered a cross between focaccia and pizza, Italy offers an incredible diversity of bread-based specialties.

Accademia Italiana della Cucina Introduced Apericena at C. Di Palo

The winning recipe that has led Di Palo to reach the 100-year milestone lies in the family. Each member has contributed for five generations to carry on and expand the tradition of the food market in the heart of Little Italy. The latest product is the C. Di Palo wine bar at 151 Mott Street, where Accademia Italiana della Cucina of New York has decided to organize an “apericena,” a moment of conviviality that has recently become popular in the United States as well.

Women on Film: The History of Gender Equality in Italy, As Seen on the Silver Screen

It was Autumn 2023, as the golden leaves began their descent to the ground and nature stripped itself bare for the winter, I found myself in Milan. A chill hung in the air, as did the impenetrable mists, which, as anyone who has visited northern Italy at that time of year will know, some days barely rose above the city’s highest spires, and I headed to the cinema to watch C’è ancora domani.

A different way to experience Italy's olive oil-making tradition: Oleotourism

Italy is the world’s second-largest producer of olive oil after Spain, with an estimated production of 324,000 tons in the 2023/2024 crop year; needless to say, the olive oil sector is a significant contributor to the national economy, with the market generating approximately USD 3.17 billion in revenue in 2023 and projected to reach USD 4.56 billion by 2030. Beyond its economic impact, olive oil is deeply connected with Italy’s cultural and culinary traditions, and is considered a symbol of the nation’s rich agricultural heritage.

I Vaticanisti: Meet the Reporters Covering Pope Francis

The Holy See Press Office is tucked under the arcades of Via della Conciliazione, just outside St. Peter’s Square, in a 1930s building constructed during the Fascist era as part of an urban renovation overseen by Mussolini. The boulevard symbolizes the reconciliation (hence its name) between the Catholic Church and the Italian state, an axis that visually and politically connected the Vatican to the heart of Rome.

Drinking in Rome, from Its Historic “Nasoni” to Its Bars and Speakeasies

Water has always been an integral part of Rome’s landscape and culture from its ancient aqueducts and Imperial baths to its majestic Renaissance and Baroque fountains commissioned by her ruling popes, and since the mid-19th century, her “nasoni”, or drinking fountains. Thus, thanks to her over 2,000 fountains–plus some 2,500 nasoni–today Rome, appropriately named “Queen of the Waters”, is home to more fountains than any other city in the world.
