For ten years, New York’s Alleged Gallery provided a breeding ground and played the role of willing accomplice to some of the most vibrant American art to come along in decades. By exhibiting the then emerging talents of Mark Gonzales, Chris Johanson, Rita Ackermann, Susan Cianciolo, Barry McGee, Margaret Kilgallen, Harmony Korine, Mike Mills, Ed Templeton, Thomas Campbell and Terry Richardson, much of Alleged’s impact was due to a complete and utter disregard for the status quo. It was 2011 : “On the occasion of the publication of Stencil Poster, the seventeenth chapter of the 36 Chambers series, Friday 17 December at 5 pm, CO2 and DRAGO present the 83 original unique plates, created by Sten&Lex for the book, in the exhibition entitled “17th”. The exhibition intends to revolutionize the concept of exhibition both in duration, limited to seven days, and in the offer, giving the possibility of purchasing a unique original work, published in an internationally distributed book, at a promotional price of ######XX, to allow fans of Sten&Lex and their innovative technique, to own a non-serial work of art by physically taking it off the wall and taking it home on the same day of the opening. On 23 December the works left hanging on the nail will regain their original price. The entire initiative, in addition to promoting and encouraging the purchase of young art, also aims to bring guests closer to art in the strict sense: observing it, selecting it and owning it from the very day of viewing.

4) Martha Cooper, From 1977-1980, I worked as a staff photographer for the NY Post. While driving back to the paper everyday in Lower Manhattan, I passed through a Lower Eastside neighborhood called Alphabet City: Avenues A,B,C and D. I began a personal project documenting the activities of kids who were playing creatively without parental supervision using whatever raw materials they could find. These photos are from that series and would be difficult to duplicate today. The neighborhood, now called the East Village, has metamorphosed into a destination for hip and trendy young New Yorkers. A Wah Do Dem is patois for “What’s wrong with them?”

Boogie’s collection of street photography has fascinated critics from all over the world. A Wah Do Dem takes the viewer into the noisy and cryptic underbelly of Kingston, Jamaica. With one of the highest homicide rates in the world, the city is frequently deemed too dangerous to be seen by outsiders. Yet, the Belgradian photographer thrives in this environment and his photos show this by capturing never before seen insights into Jamaican society.
