Il franchise classico dell'orrore "The Omen" torna a far parlare di sé con l'uscita di "The First Omen", distribuito da 20th Century Studios, che si preannuncia come il film più terrificante dell'anno grazie a uno spot televisivo di 30 secondi recentemente diffuso. Protagonista del film è Nell Tiger Free, nota per il suo ruolo in "Servant", che ci introduce in un prequel ricco di nuove inquietanti sequenze. La pellicola, che arriverà nelle sale il 5 aprile 2024 negli USA (ancora non è stata rivelata la data di uscita In Italia), promette di scatenare l'inferno con un rating "R" per contenuti violenti, immagini raccapriccianti/disturbanti e brevi nudità esplicite.

La trama si concentra su una giovane americana inviata a Roma per iniziare una vita di servizio alla chiesa, la quale si troverà faccia a faccia con un'oscurità che la porterà a mettere in discussione la propria fede e a scoprire una terrificante cospirazione volta a dare vita all'incarnazione del male. Nel cast troviamo anche Tawfeek Barhom, Sonia Braga, Ralph Ineson e Bill Nighy, sotto la regia di Arkasha Stevenson, che si basa sui personaggi creati da David Seltzer con una sceneggiatura scritta a quattro mani con Tim Smith e Keith Thomas.

Il film si propone di rinnovare l'interesse per una saga iconica, il cui primo capitolo del 1976 vedeva Gregory Peck nei panni di un ambasciatore americano convinto che suo figlio di cinque anni fosse l'Anticristo. Con una produzione curata da David S. Goyer e Keith Levine, e la collaborazione di esecutivi come Tim Smith, Whitney Brown e Gracie Wheelan, "The First Omen" promette di essere un'esperienza cinematografica che metterà a dura prova i nervi degli spettatori, riaffermando il suo posto nell'olimpo dei film horror.
