Our Story
In 1996, collaboration with the Disney Academy, the studio completed its first short-film experiment in 3D, The Room (2'), which was followed a year later by Hunny (8').
In 1998 Maga began collaborating with Disney Channel on small projects, promos, animated opening sequences and post-production intervention. The studio grew in size and numerous idents and promos were developed, which were awarded international prizes.
In fact Maga and Disney Channel Italia won two Gold Promax Europe Awards, one “honorable mention” and various accolades at the American BDA/Promax.
Between 1999 and 2000 an audio department was created and the studio became independent in all the production phases, directly controlling the artistic and technical quality of every project it dealt with. At the same time as the projects for Disney Channel, in 2001 Maga Animation completed various new short-films: Rags was shown at Imagina 2002. In 2003 the studio’s experimentation on interstitial and serial formats began and the first series for Disney Channel Italia:The Experiments, was realized. It got into the final at the BDA of New York in 2004, along with a project by Aardman Animation, and it was dubbed into various languages. In 2004 the short-film Mr Mille won the “Pitch Me!” competition at Cartoons on the Bay As well as receiving other tributes at international festivals.
For the Aichi Expo in 2005 the 3D animation for the film event directed by the great master Bob Robert Wilson was realized. In 2006 the first series in 3D animation to be completely produced and realized in Italy was completed, directed by Bruno Bozzetto for Animation Band and RAI Fiction (I Cosi - 26 x 5'). In the same year The Olympig/Go!Go!PIG! winter session was completed. This was a TV series by Maga Animation which was acquired by Nickelodeon Italia and was selected at the festival of Annecy in 2006.
The studio’s productions have gradually become more and more complex and they are now viewed worldwide. Maga Animation realizes television promos and ads in 2D and 3D for Disney characters and properties such as Stitch, American Dragon, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and more.
In 2005 the graphics package and the international Christmas campaign for The Incredibles of the Disney channel was created and the studio worked on the worldwide campaign of Chicken Little for Christmas 2006. From 2005 Maga produces and realizes different TV series such as Psicovip, directed by Bruno Bozzetto with the characters Minivip and Supervip, comes from the original director’s feature film, “Vip My superhero Brother” and Acqua in bocca with Rai fiction by the direction of the master Guido Manuli. Today the company proceed in new challenge, improve new styles, art and technology research also in stereoscopic 3D production, VR, and on all digital devices.
