In 1973 René Laroux’s “La Planète Sauvage” became the first animated film screened at the Cannes Film Festival, where it scooped the Special Jury Prize and caused a sensation not only for the phantasmagorical drawings by Roland Topor, but mostly for the music composed by Alain Goraguer.
Sampled by the gotha of Hip Hop, including the likes of MF Doom, Madlib, A$ap Mob and Mac Miller, and grailed as an experimental psychedelic summit, “La Planète Sauvage” has now received a deluxe remastering treatment for its 50th birthday under the supervision of Patrick Goraguer, Alain’s son.

🎬 We are proud to introduce “Il Caso è Chiuso, Andate in Pace” (“The Case is Closed, Go in Peace”), a short film directed by Simone Marino, produced by CSCscuolanazionaledicinema and featuring music by CAM Sugar.
🎥 The opus, starring Maurizio Lombardi and Federico Pacifici, is part of a project that saw the involvement of the students of the CSC – Scuola Nazionale di Cinema in Rome, Italy’s leading film school, working on a short film using and inspired by the crime soundtracks from the archive of CAM Sugar.
🎞 “Il Caso è Chiuso, Andate in Pace” was selected among the many excellent works submitted and will be premiered at thTorino Film Festivalal on Sunday, November 27th, just ahead of the screening of the restored version of cult Italian crime cinema milestone “Milano Calibro 9” (1972) by Fernando Di Leo.
🚓 The short film, which features a score also made up of tracks taken from our release PIOMBO, pays homage to the 1970s Italian Poliziesco tradition and to its hero, actor Maurizio Merli, while retaining a contemporary setting and an overall tongue-in-cheek tone that perfectly blends in with the pace of the music.

🎬 In “Totò Sexy” (1963) little-known actress Gisella Ferrini performs a vocal version of “Jen Jen Twist”, a number written by Armando Trovajoli for the film’s CAM Sugar soundtrack.
🎸 Sticking to the mondo movie iconography, Ferrini and her backing band are dressed up in traditional Chinese costume offering a mind-blowing crossover of Eastern melodies and twangy Western rock ‘n roll guitars.
❓ The track’s vocal version, though, was sadly lost over time, making the film the only way to enjoy it. However, head to the link in bio to check the instrumental take out, part of the “Totò Sexy” soundtrack, masterfully remastered from the CAM Sugar archive.

🔫 The cut is taken from the mind-blowing soundtrack by Gigante for Demofilo Fidani’s “La Sedia Elettrica”, aka “The Electric Chair” (1969) a delirious B-movie on gangster turf wars in Prohibition-era Chicago.
🥀 The track’s title is indeed a reference to the flower worn by gangsters on their pinstripe suits, a fashion that bloomed again in the late 1960s, also thanks to the popularity of the “Bonnie & Clyde” film starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
🎙Inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, Nora Orlandi blesses this track with swinging and scat vocals that capture all the flair and coolness of late ‘60s Italian cinema and culture.

🎬 In 1963 the cream of European cinema got together for “Ro.Go.Pa.G.”, a coral film where Rossellini, Godard, Pasolini and Gregoretti each directed one episode, moved by a witty criticism of contemporary society.
🏴☠️In the episode "Il Pollo Ruspante”, Gregoretti dedicated a scene to his colleague Pasolini, to highlight, with bittersweet irony, how the intellectual was denigrated by the public opinion, to the point he was even accused of armed robbery in 1961.
🥷 For this reason, the kid waiting for main character Ugo Tognazzi home - played by the actor’s son Ricky - impersonates a bandit, shooting his father and claiming to be dressed up as Pasolini.
🎷 “Ro.Go.Pa.G.” (1963) full soundtrack composed by Carlo Rustichelli has now been fully remastered and made available for the first time on digital platforms as part of label @camsugarmusic celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Pasolini.

🧟♂️ The song, previously unreleased, appeared in 1972 as the main theme for “Frankenstein ‘80”, a horror take on Mary Shelley’s cult novel directed by Mario Mancini!
🧪 In the film, Dr. Frankenstein secretly assembles a monstrous being, Mosaic, who soon runs loose starting to target handsome girls to ruthlessly murder them. At some point it even looks like the tale of Jack the Ripper starts to blend in with the plot, as the film intertwines horror with giallo and police story elements.
🩸 Following the quintessential trait of the Italian thrilling cinema of the 1970s, “Frankenstein ‘80” updates a classic gothic literature work by setting it in the society of the times and by giving room to kinky moments.
