From today until 24 January, my VR short film 'Kursaal' is in competition in the SMART BIARRITZ IMMERSIVE section at Fipadoc 2024 | International Documentary Festival. Made during an artistic residency at the SPEKTRUM Rumelange, the film tells the story of the CineKursaal, the oldest movie theater in Luxembourg. Through the story of the Massard family, the historic owners of the movie theater, 'Kursaal' tells the story of the past, present and future of Cinema, from flammable films to immersive technologies.

"MONTEGELATO" behind the scenes with director Davide Rapp and assistants Andrea Dal Martello, Giorgio De Marco.

"MONTEGELATO" is a montage film in VR, the first of its kind. Hundreds of cinematic sequences define a three-dimensional collage of the Monte Gelato waterfalls (RM) as they have been filmed in more than 180 productions including films, TV series and commercials.

We are happy and proud to announce that our VR film “MONTEGELATO" - conceived, directed and edited by Davide Rapp - has been selected to participate in the Venice VR Expanded Competition, at the 78th La Biennale di Venezia to be held from 1st to 11th September 2021. "MONTEGELATO" is a VR editing film, the first of its kind. The project, developed with the aid and commitment of Andrea Dal Martello and Giorgio De Marco is the result of almost 5 years of research: hundreds of film sequences define a three-dimensional and immersive collage of the Monte Gelato Falls (RM) as they have been filmed in over 180 productions including films, TV series and commercials. The film will be shown at the Palazzo del Casinò (Lido di Venezia) and at 14 satellite venues in 10 different countries. "MONTEGELATO" is in competition with 22 other immersive experiences from all over the world. Axel Müller-Schöll (1960), architetto d’interni e docente alla Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule di Halle, ama disegnare a mano. Una passione nata all’inizio degli anni ’80 come studente di architettura a Stoccarda, alimentata dalle lezioni di Adolfo Natalini a Firenze e portata avanti nel lavoro quotidiano di progettista e insegnante. Due grandi valigie di sicurezza custodiscono oltre 70 quaderni di schizzi accumulati in quasi quarant’anni: dai disegni emergono ricordi professionali e personali in un appassionato flusso di coscienza. "From screening to (live) streaming", a video essay by Dashorama.

Film entertainment is more and more streaming-oriented. The movie theatre’s widescreen, initially resized to a TV, is now further fragmented into ever smaller windows, from tablet to smartphone. Even its horizontal format is questioned, as we are getting used to the vertical format of our smartphones. In the era of social distancing, a direct consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, our daily life has also become similar to streaming content: our homes have turned into our sets from which we broadcast our daily routines live through video calls, distance learning and online conferences. "From streaming to (live) streaming" aims to tell this social phase with a cinephile's approach, using a language halfway between video essay and provocation tout court.
