Fred Lincoln "Link" Wray Jr. (May 2, 1929 – November 5, 2005). Link Wray, performing “Rumble” in 1974; the only instrumental song banned from the radio. In the 1950s when it was released, it was censored. It became the most banned song in history. It had no lyrics.

His 1958 instrumental single "Rumble," reached the top 20 in the United States, and was one of the earliest songs in rock music to utilize distortion and tremolo.

Rolling Stone ranked Wray at No. 45 on its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. He received two nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, prior to being inducted in the Musical Influence category in 2023.

Lynyrd Skynyrd – Live At Knebworth August 21, 1976

On August 21, 1976, Lynyrd Skynyrd took the stage at Knebworth as part of a daylong festival which also included Todd Rundgren’s Utopia, 10cc and The Rolling Stones. The show has gone down in Lynyrd Skynyrd history as one of the band’s greatest performances. The 1976 Knebworth show features Ronnie Van Zant’s iconic vocals and their famed triple guitar attack of Gary Rossington, Allen Collins and Steve Gaines in front of a crowd estimated between 150,000 and 200,000.

Two Become Three: Nigel Mogg returns to join Spike and Guy Bailey as new Quireboys shows lined up

Quireboys bass legend, Nigel Mogg, announces today he's joining forces with Spike and Guy Bailey as the original Quireboys line-up reforms for a new chapter in its story - with new music already being written and a show announcement imminent.

Nigel comments: "I've known Spike since we were 18 and he's one of my best friends. People know him as the bigger-than-life rock & roller he is on stage - as he should be - but behind the scenes he's genuine, kind, hard-working and very loyal to people. I've really felt for what Spike has been put through and it's time to stand with my friend. I called Spike this morning to offer my services and told him I was all in. So I'm heading to London, plus he's got Pete Way's bass at his house for me."

Spike added: "Guy Bailey and I are so pleased Nigel is back, I never wanted him to leave the band. Nigel is such a special friend and I know so many fans have been really hoping this would happen."

"When three members of my band announced their split away the other month, it was sad this was accompanied by comments on my character that were unnecessary and untrue. I am refraining from running former band members down because it doesn't achieve anything and, in simple terms, everyone just has to move on. As it happens, so many positives have come from the negatives in recent weeks. I'm reunited with original members of our band, Guy Bailey and me are writing new music again, old songs from the early days have been uncovered for completion and live shows now are on the way. That's right, we'll be announcing dates for our first two Quireboys shows for the autumn in the next week or so."

"Once again - and I don't apologise for the fact I keep saying it - an enormous and heartfelt thank you again to you, the fans, whose support has been absolutely phenomenal through such an unsettling time. You have been the extra band member through this time of change and we'll repay the love and support with new Quireboys music and shows."

This 46-page issue features The Shangri-las. The streetwise image of the Shangri-Las – initially a promotional device for "Leader of the Pack” – contrasted with other "girl groups" of the 1960s, and were cited as an influence by 1970s punk rock-era acts such as the New York Dolls and Blondie. The Shangri-las influenced Aerosmith & Johnny Thunders to cover several of their songs such as, “Remember, Walking In The Sand.” Twisted Sister covered "Leader of the Pack.” The Johnny Thunders / Patti Palladin album Copy Cats (1988) features a version of "He Cried." In the 2015 documentary Wider Horizons; David Gilmour, guitarist for Pink Floyd, cited the Shangri-Las as an influence, saying their music "painted aural pictures.” Punk rock-era acts such as the New York Dolls covered, “Great Big Kiss.”


Also, included are Nina Simone with songs covered by David Bowie, Eric Burdon and The Animals, Traffic, Michael Bublé, John Coltrane, Muse, Joe Bonamassa, Leslie West. Rebel rockers Eric Burdon and Hocus Pocus included.

A close neck down view of my Signature Les Paul. My name is engraved on the truss rod cover. My guitar ends in serial number 001 and is the first of it's kind ever built. I had 2 built originally and took this one on tour with me but when I got back I found out that Gibson had mistakenly shipped it to one of its dealers. That guitar whose serial number ends in 002 is now in the possession of Rick Nielsen of Cheap trick who supposedly has all 11 of the other ones made. Gibson had promised me to build only 2 of these guitars which I designed but made 12 that are official models. There are many Custom Shop versions of these guitars floating around but mine is and always will be the first.

Legendary British rock band Lionheart were formed in 1980, Lionheart represents a Who’s Who of British rock containing former and current members of Iron Maiden, UFO, MSG, Michael Schenker Fest, and Shy.
Between them they have worked with Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Ozzy Osbourne, Rush, Black Crowes, Sweet, Magnum, Saxon, Hans Zimmer, and Albert Lee to name but a few.
The band have a new album called “The Reality of Miracles” due out in the spring of 2019.

Lionheart was, perhaps a super group before the phrase was thrown around on a daily basis like it is now. Since the band’s inception back in the early 80’s the band has included former and current members from UFO, Iron Maiden, Michael Schenker, McAuley Schenker, Mamas Boys, Shy and Uriah Heep. So, if that’s the not the definition of what a true super group was and is, then I don’t know what is. Lionheart returns with a new album The Reality of Miracles, and as expected it is a true hard/melodic rock masterpiece. The band is hitting on all cylinders. The guitars are packed with great rock n roll riffs and melodic and emotional leads. The keyboards weave in and out of the songs in perfect harmony while the bass and drums put forth a flawless and unshakable rhythm foundation. Lee Small (ex-Shy singer) delivers a phenomenal vocal performance throughout the whole album. Small’s vocals are deep, melodic and show an absolute love and dedication to his craft. Lionheart proves that full length 13 track albums can still be done and done to perfection. In times where the only thing that is certain is uncertainty. We can be certain that Lionheart is not going anywhere and can provide us with the escape we so need and that is great rock n roll. The Reality of Miracles is an amazing album and a full on 10/10!
