Have you all seen that new TV show where people take lie detector tests to prove whether they cheated on their significant other? I mean, talk about taking trust issues to the next level!
And of course, the show is called "The Moment of Truth" because apparently, the truth only matters in a specific moment and not, you know, all the time.
I have to admit, I'm a little skeptical of this whole lie detector thing. I mean, aren't these machines notoriously unreliable? It's like taking relationship advice from a Magic 8 Ball. "Will I stay faithful to my partner?" shake shake "Outlook not so good."
But hey, if it makes for good TV, who am I to judge? Although, I do have a confession to make... I actually applied to be on the show. I figured, why not? I'm single, I've got nothing to hide, I'm pretty sure I'm not a sociopath...
So, they hook me up to the lie detector and the host starts asking me questions. "Have you ever cheated on someone?" "Nope." "Have you ever stolen anything?" "Nope." "Do you think this show is a complete and utter circus that exploits people's personal lives for entertainment?" "Uh..."
Let's just say, I didn't make it past the first round. But hey, at least I can say I tried. And that's more than I can say for some of the people on that show...
Overall, I think we can all agree that trust is a fundamental aspect of any healthy relationship. But if you need a TV show to prove whether or not your partner is faithful, then maybe it's time to reevaluate your priorities. Or just invest in a good therapist.
