How to prevent strings from vibrating if...
..you play a solo or a riff whereof certain strings are not used and you're struggling with applying proper muting with your hands.

If there are no open strings required in your solo and you don't need the first fret:
- Try adding a scarf or another form of tissue around the strings on the first fret.

If there are open strings required but for example, you don't need to play the last 2 or 3 strings:
- Try to put a piece of tissue / underneath the strings that should prevent them from vibrating
- You can also move the tissue further up the fretboard if possible for a better result.
