Viking Route uses a compass-and-magnets mechanic that was first implemented in “The Faceless”, designed by Martino Chiacchiera and Guido Albini. The game designer Luca Maragno joined the team to create a new game with this mechanic, with a new setting perfect for exploring the magnetism in the gameplay. He tells us how Viking Route was created in this Designer Diary.

Kraken Hunt 🐙

The first scenario of Viking Route is set on Midgard, the Earth, where you will have to deal with a sea monster: first you will have to escape its te****les to find magic stones, and only then can you hunt it down. All the while, be careful not to get sucked in by whirlpools, they could be... disorienting!

The three Nigredo Press releases are indie products with a notable visual impact, targeted to demanding enthusiasts who seek new ideas both from a gameplay and artistic perspective, not tied to a specific game system. Cthulhu Bay is an investigative RPG blending Lovecraftian horror with innovative mechanics and pulp-style storytelling, allowing players to craft their own unique endings by piecing together Clues. Did we ever tell you about that time Kuba almost crashed the Drakkar on the rocks? The colossal Jörmungandr, the World Serpent, had just bitten him, but he still took to the tiller: "Don't worry guys, I'm a big one, poison doesn't even bother me." Next minute, he passed out with no one else at the helm! Avoiding the rocks at the last second was not the hardest part, though: try carrying a six-hundred-pound bear down to the hold and then give him enough food to cure him of the poison!

Kuba is the last survivor of the Yrsa forest-shrine, which was burned down by Loki, killing his entire race. An expert on plants and the magical arts, he has always been devoted to the great spirit and the constant search for inner peace. His motto is: “Grrrow”, which, in Yrsidian, means: “I don’t fear death nor life, I welcome the Spirit.”

🐌 There’s no peace on the Gastropodia Islands. Especially not when snails grab their weapons and start a deadly combat. Each squad is ready to show the other mollusks who’s the boss. Bazookas, flamers, mines, barrels full of toxic waste, hammers and drills… These are the snails’ tools of the trade used with a blinding speed unusual for those rather slow creatures.

Snails is a dynamic game for 2-4 players ready to command squads of pumped up mollusks in a pitched battle. Each squad is led by a unique leader who grants their soldiers special abilities and enhances their chances to win by eliminating opponents with an assortment of funny weapons.

Each combat takes place on a dozen islands, which get destroyed as the game progresses. Your snail may end up in the water in no time and see for themselves that marine pollution is real! Additionally, by excavating more island levels you may encounter all kinds of surprises – from new gear to lethal traps.

Did we ever tell you about that time Astrid tried to befriend a “doggie” that then turned out to be the terrible wolf Fenrir? She had gotten off the Drakkar to collect food in the depths of a forest, when she felt an animal presence. "Come here puppy," she said, and at once a gigantic, drooling creature jumped out. Astrid darted back to the Drakkar and, short of breath, she barely managed to sing one of her spells to call wind to our sails. The Drakkar took off a split-second before Fenrir could take a bite!

Astrid Revnar grew up in the caves of the Morugban clan, where, at the age of three, she started learning the divinatory arts from the wise old women of her tribe, like all oracle-princesses before her. She is endowed with once-in-a-lifetime powers, but her rebellious nature makes it a struggle to control them.
Her motto is: “Not every storm that shakes the sea will turn the tides against your ship.”

Altay - Dawn of Civilization is a deck-building civilization game, set in a mythic age. In a secluded region within a vast continent, four mysterious societies have cultivated distinct cultures over countless years, maintaining a fragile balance. They now confront a new challenge: the influx of human settlers with advanced crafts and weapons. As the leader of one of Altay’s Elder Peoples, you have the choice how to react to this challenge.

The game board depicts a region where the four factions clash, each area characterized by diverse terrain types and resources. Players control one of four factions, each represented by a unique starting deck, featuring distinctions in the number of “basic” cards and faction-specific cards.

Did we ever tell you about that time Urwulf saved the Drakkar from a critical situation by making everyone laugh? It’s not a story he likes to tell, because it was rather farcical. Three corrupt Valkyries were about to board the ship, and Urwulf was heading toward the prow to man the ballista and take them down. What he didn’t notice was that a Kraken te****le had reached the hull: he tripped on it and fell face-first onto the ballista, which, by pure chance, fired three arrows that all hit the Valkyries. Needless to say, his axes flew from his hands, spinning through the air before coming back down, cutting the very te****le that had tripped him into pieces.

Urwulf Trygvel lives for battle and feeds on adrenaline! The illegitimate son of the King of the Gromskreem clan, he is considered one of the strongest war leaders to have ever lived. His motto is: “Every man seeks a glorious death in battle to rise again in Valhalla... so I’m just here to help!"
