We were particularly inspired by the Cervo River that runs through the town of Biella. The river used to be a fundamental element of Biella's textile history, integrating it as part of the project was, thus, essential, creating a natural link between the Cittadelarte and the Third Paradise.

The project is a combination of two concepts, "experiment" and "preservation". In the new Cittadellarte space, these two approaches coexist in harmony. The main idea is to create a large laboratory where visitors can experiment and understand the process of working with wool, which has evolved over centuries.

We explored anew the sense of place and symbolism of a mill that had lost its function. Just as many wools are connected by threads to create something new, various spaces have been woven to create a space for people to enjoy. We would like to propose a place that connects each space into one space by comparing it to the creation of cotton fabric by weaving line-shaped threads.

The main wall of the temporary exhibition is made of opaque glass and is also a moving passage wall for the permanent exhibition. The strong light of the moving passage of the permanent exhibition created a shadow and was directed so that it could be seen in the planned exhibition space through opaque glass.

From this concept of Paradise (a word borrowed from Persian that means garden), combined with the idea of the industrial fair, the project results in an amusement park, “Lana Park”. The abandoned factory evolved into a pleasure garden, where users can both enjoy and learn about the story of Biella and the wool, connecting the past (woolen mills) and the future (art) of this charming space.
