Calm undertones of early morning and the day's first train arrivals, encapsulating a moment frozen in time.

Presenting a render from "Walkeweg, Basel" – a heartfelt collaboration with

While this proposal didn't clinch the competition, the commitment to reducing sealed floors, boosting local biodiversity, and embracing nature in an urban setting is undeniably inspiring.

From intertwined pergolas, communal spaces, and lively neighborhoods to that central green strip designed for relaxation and interactions – every corner has a story. Though it won't rise from the blueprints, this project stands tall in our hearts!

Lots of exciting stuff going on behind the scenes! In the meantime, we're thrilled to finally unveil a project that has kept us busy for a good part of 2023! Enter the marketing visuals for Makerstoren - a hub for creativity and innovation located in the heart of Amsterdam's Sloterdijk.

This unique project called for a unique approach in its depiction.

Makerstoren is more than a building; it's an incubator for the curious, the passionate, the pioneers. This innovative environment, with light-filled workspaces and cutting-edge innovation labs, was brought to life in our renderings.

Our goal? To capture the essence of a space that sparks growth, fosters community, and encourages exploration.

These visuals were not just part of the marketing package, but also integrated into a user-friendly floor selector app, elevating the way potential tenants interact with the space.

Strong Dutch vibes emanating from this set of images!

The nice fellows at Allard Architecture asked us to illustrate their concept for a timber building in the Sluisbuurt neighborhood in Amsterdam, a charming "bijoux en bois".

Here's what we cooked for them. Sadly, the project didn't make it to the second stage of the tender, but we're still very proud of our collective effort!

Hey hey! Been radio silent lately (for very good reasons!), but it's always great to use social media to celebrate friends achieving something great!

Anagram Architecture & Urbanism (Marina Kounavi and Konstantina Lola) and Gruppa Studio (Anne-Se Tremblay and Yann Kuto) just got the 1st Prize for the refurbishment of the existing building in the main square of Prerov (Czech Republic) into the New Town Hall.

These are some of the images made throughout our collaboration on this amazing project. Cheers guys! 🥂

With its 17 million of passengers per-year, Geneva Airport is currently the most voracious entity of the Swiss Canton of Geneva. Is there a possible and sustainable future for this area in the post-COVID and post-fossil energy era?

Swiss office Raum404 developed their own vision of a carbon-free, energy positive neighborhood in place of the old Geneva Airport as part of the consultations for future of the Grand Geneve area held by Fondation Braillard Architectes

Here’s is the image we crafted at The Big Picture to support their visionary idea.

Time for a special announcement!

We’ve gone silent for a little while. We worked really hard on this in the last few months, but as of today, we can finally make it official, although the most attentive of you may have already noticed something new on our social channels.

We’re excited to announce a brand new image for The Big Picture, with a new logo and a new website developed by ourselves.
Head over to www.bigpicturevisual.com and discover our new visual identity!

Many things have evolved since we started in 2017. Our goals and the whole world have changed, and we are embarking on a journey towards offering new products and content both to our clients and the archviz community.

Our new visual identity will carry us through this change, representing our core beliefs in tune with our mission to bridge the gap between audience and architecture and consult designers on how to communicate their ideas to a global audience.

After all, it’s still The Big Picture. We’re just wearing a new, finely tailored suit to make us stand out and help us deliver new ideas and products to our ideal clients.

2020 is upon us!

Before getting into our party outfits for New Year's eve, we wanted to celebrate the end of 2019 with you by sharing our happiest moments from this incredible year.

Once again, a special thanks to our clients and collaborators, who joined us in this journey and made 2019 a year to remember.

Happy New Year!

Our happiest moments from 2019. What an incredible year!

20/12/2019

Wishing you folks a wonderful holiday sesason! 2019 has been a crazy ride, and we can't wait to see what 2020 holds.
We'll be back from January 7 more fresh than ever. Take care, show your love to your dear ones and eat a lot of christmas food ❤️❄️

PS: in case you're wondering, this image is a wintery twist on an old work of ours, made some time ago for Eike Becker_Architekten in Berlin ;)

06/11/2019

We are totally convinced that even images of everyday spaces can be exiciting and inspiring... of course, it's always easier when a client comes with an interesting project such as this one!

This is a supermarket in Reggio Emilia (yes, you read that right!) designed by Studio LSA Architettura Ingegneria Urbanistica for Conad Italy. What do you think? ;)

09/10/2019

Here's another image crafted for the winning entry of the 'Parco del Ponte' international design competition, definitely one of our favorites from the set :)

Instead of focusing on the large scale, this shot is all about the new railway station and the 120-meter-high Wind Tower, which will generate renewable energy for the whole district.

By the way people, don't try this at home and don't go around train tracks taking photos! Please stay safe and leave these dangerous deeds to your friendly neighborhood architectural visualizer ;)

03/10/2019

It's a win! This competition was a real challenge, but one of the most rewarding so far.

Sure, it's been a complex project, but perhaps the competition topic was even more sensitive.
On August 14 2018, the city of Genoa in Italy, was hit by the sudden collapse of the Morandi motorway Bridge, resulting in 43 deaths.

Along with the new bridge by RPBW, the 'Parco del Ponte' competition marked a big step forward towards the reconstruction of the Valpolcevera area, so when Stefano Boeri Architetti came asking us to aid them explaining their vision for this carbon-neutral city park, we were more than happy to give our best for something really important.

Congrats to them and to all the people involved (among which Metrogramma, Inside Outside - Petra Blaisse and Studio LAURA GATTI). More images are going up soon, this time for real ;)

22/08/2019

Today is the day! We're off to Vienna for the D2 Conference, the biggest archviz event of the year. If you're there as well, make sure to come by, say hi and share a drink! 🍻

02/08/2019

As you know, being able to share images straight after their completion is a very rare event, so we would like to celebrate this unique happening with all you people out there :D

This is another set of images made together with our dear friends at Stefano Boeri Architetti for three new Vertical Forests in New Cairo, Egypt.

Enjoy the hanging gardens of Egypt! (historical accuracy not guaranteed)

12/07/2019

Down here in Italy we're finally enjoying a welcome break from a massive heatwave. Let's celebrate the summer rainstorms with an image in keeping with the season!

Here's another one made for one of Stefano Boeri Architetti's latest housing projects in Tirana, Albania 🇦🇱

21/05/2019

Another image made for our good friends at Stefano Boeri Architetti. Tirana is quickly becoming a real architectural gem, and this multi-family housing complex is just a small step in a series of urban scale transformations... of which we may or may not have some images to share as well in the future ;)

As for now, enjoy this piece and check out the rest of the set at ArchDaily! https://bit.ly/2VRJJTt

04/04/2019

Hush hush! We cannot tell you much about this image yet.

All you need to know right now is that the fine fellows at Allard Architecture are designing this building in Amsterdam-Noord to house the headquarters of a large media company that you millennials are probably quite familiar with... ;)

The Big Picture's cover photo

07/02/2019

It is told that, once in a blue moon, archviz artist get commissioned freehand projects... well, this is one of those, and we're happy to show you one of our favourite images from 2018.

Here's Casa Cabana, a getaway villa for a couple on the St. Lucia island in the Caribbean, designed by Vladimir Konovalov (www.vladimir-konovalov.com).

Casa Cabana takes its name from the traditional recreational cabin called "cabana", that is commonly built in the tropical climates near natural bodies of water. Its original aim was to provide shade during hot summer days and let the wind run smoothly through the structure to cool it down.

These key characteristics were moulded into the new contemporary language to create Casa Cabana. Its transparent structure provides an uninterrupted 360-degree view of the beautiful tropical landscape around the villa.

Four cross-shaped pillars are holding a light roof to create a levitating effect. Frameless windows don’t reach the ceiling to provide enough room for the wind to freely move through the villa, bringing a pleasant summer breeze inside.

Since Instagram doesn't have much love for vertical images, here we go!
Sharp and gilded, in its full glory: a mixed-use high-rise standing tall in warm autumn tones for Eike Becker_Architekten's Grand Central Frankfurt proposal 🍂

15/11/2018

Yes, museums and towers are great to visualize... but what about everyday spaces? Illustrating retail projects such as malls and retail parks in an evocative way is not an easy task. So, when the folks at One Works came to us with this project for a new retail park in Sardinia, we were happy to help and challenge ourselves. If you are at MAPIC, make sure to visit them and check out this beautiful project!

Something about last weekend in Florence! We had the opportunity to learn the process behind master archviz artist and taekwondo fighter extraordinaire Karim Mousa El Ramly (aka Mozses)'s work. An amazing 2-day journey into the mind of one of the best and most prolific guys of our industry.

A big shoutout to Michela Tonelli and all MTSYS crew for making this possible! Here's a selection of the best pictures of the event for your enjoyment. Cheers and see you next time!

Hey folks! As we draw closer to a well-deserved summer-end break, this week we'll stop by Vienna to attend d2 Conferences, the hottest archviz event of the year.

Are you going to be there? Do show up, we're looking forward to meet you! Seek the one with the funny hair and unruly beard... or... something.

Pretty big team for an even bigger project! This is a 2nd prize award winning proposal for a large housing complex in Junggyebon-dong, Seoul.
The massive, mountanlike apartment blocks serve also as a spectacular canopy walk, with access to a two-way cable car. Amazing concept, if you ask us!

[The Big Picture goes to Florence!]

Last Friday our Federico Biancullo was invited in Florence by MTSYS for an open talk on how to manage a personal portfolio and the importance of networking and communication in the realm of archviz and architecture.
It was refreshing to see so many students eager to know more about professional development and delve deeper into topics which are usually left untouched by architecture academies.

You guys have been great! Thanks to Michela Tonelli for hosting the talk and to Lorenzo Bacci and Matteo Capirola for the organization.

More events are coming soon... stay tuned!

!

It was 2016 when we made this image at Mecanoo.

Since the release of this image, the Kaohsiung Railway Station project has made huge steps towards its completion, and we really look forward to see the finished building!

In the meantime, here's an evergreen classic: Render VS Reality!

Here's a building site picture shared by Mecanoo Associate Architect Rodrigo Louro. How do you like the final roof paneling? ;)

[Illustrated with love by The Big Picture Visual, designed by VMX Architects]

The Strijp-S area in Eindhoven is a place of creativity, events and urban sports, with the Area 51 skatepark being one of the coolest attraction in the area. So, its demolition to make room for new residential space was definitely a no-go.

Enter Haasje Over, made possible by Stam + De Koning Bouw bv and VMX Architects. This mini-lofts residential building connects with the industrial and hip attitude of Strijp-S and will be built over the skate hall.

Here's another image we made for Stefano Boeri Architetti's Trudo Tower, the first social-housing vertical forest building.

Little trivia: all the vegetation in the scene was carefully selected to match the species chosen for the design, and their shape, foliage and color was adjusted where necessary. We don't do mindless, random greenwashing over here ;)
