Welcome to Fieldwork, a new collaborative artwork by John Rogers & Amy Tavern. Presented both online and as a gallery presentation, Fieldwork touches on space and movement, experience and memory; exploration and journeying told through interactive maps, first-hand accounts, film, images & objects. The first gallery-based presentation of the project took place at SÍM Studios in Reykjavík 101 with a
n opening on June 18th and opening hours on June 19 and 20. The large basement workspace was transformed into a multimedia installation, with the artists in residence for the three days of the show to work on the ongoing project and welcome guests. The online presentation can be viewed by anyone with an internet connection, opening up the project to an international audience. It is centred around a customised Google Map, through which viewers can trace the steps of the artists' journeys, reading blogs about sites visited, and exploring landscapes and found objects, all pinned using GPS coordinates. The project is also expressed through various social media platforms such as Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram and Google+, offering cues for the viewer to engage on a continual basis as Fieldwork develops. http://fieldworkk.tumblr.com
