This is our wonderful piano! The grand was built by Broadwood & Sons and belonged to the University of Iceland (Háskóli Íslands) before it was brought here to Greenhouse Studios and has been used in many sessions since then. Announcement + Single: Gabriella Smith & Gabriel Cabezas - Lost Coast

Lost Coast - the new album by composer, vocalist and environmentalist Gabriella Smith and cellist Gabriel Cabezas is going to be released on Bedroom Community June 25. The record is a visceral response to climate change and was tracked here at Greenhouse Studios by Francesco Fabris. The album was mixed and mastered by Valgeir Sigurðsson and produced by our very dear friend and BedCom artist Nadia Sirota.

You can pre-order the album now and listen to the first single 'Bard of a Wasteland' that comes with a beautiful video by Darian Thomas.

The title track for the theatre piece 'Vertu Úlfur' by Emiliana Torrini is out now on all streaming platforms! The song was written by Emilíana and Markéta Irglová with instrumental performances by Sturla Mio Þórisson and Valgeir Sigurðsson. Recording and mixing was done both at Masterkey Studios and here at Greenhouse Studios.

The music for the play 'Vertu Úlfur' was composed by Valgeir Sigurðsson with additional performances by Einar Scheving and Francesco Fabris. The piece is shown right now at the National Theatre of Iceland (Þjóðleikhúsið) featuring the amazing actor Bjorn Thors.

The Icelandic composer and pianist Eydís Evensen released her debut album yesterday via XXIM Records. We are thrilled being part of this extraordinary project and journey. The album was recorded, mixed and produced here at Greenhouse Studios by Valgeir Sigurðsson.

This is our wonderful harmonium!

It’s been used - as commonly in Iceland - in a private household before and eventually found its way to Greenhouse Studios. As you can read on the organ stops it’s very likely that it was built in Germany and you can even guess the manufacturer's name ('Siebmann Orgel').

You can hear its beautiful sound on many recordings done here but it was definitely most used by various Bedroom Community artists. You can spot it on 'Draumaland' (from Valgeir Sigurðsson’s Draumalandið), 'Fall On My Knees' (from All is Well by Sam Amidon) and Nico Muhly’s 'It goes without saying' (on Speaks Volumes).

OUT NOW: 'The Centre is Everywhere' - Manchester Collective

The incredible Manchester Collective is releasing their debut LP today via Bedroom Community. The sublime album is a journey through the ensemble’s musical world featuring sensuous music for string orchestra. It features the eponymous piece by Novello Award-nominated composer Edmund Finnis alongside Arnold Schoenberg’s 'Transfigured Night' and an arrangement of Philip Glass’s String Quartet No.2 'Company' for string orchestra. The music spans 120 years resulting in one compelling listening experience – from drama and despair, to weightlessness and transcendence.

The album was mastered here at Greenhouse Studios by Valgeir Sigurðsson. It’s out on all streaming platforms with a special physical version pressed on clear vinyl available for pre-order from Bandcamp:

Congrats to our friends 404.zero.

"Time spent at the the famous Greenhouse Studio in Reykjavik and exploring the Icelandic countryside provided the inspiration for Black Sunday, which sees 404.zero experimenting with both a modular system and a Buchla synthesizer for a dark ambient composition accompanied by equally dark, grainy visuals.

The mini-album arrives as a precursor to 404.0, the duo’s first album for Bedroom Community which arrives in June. Black Sunday is out now, check out the artwork and tracklist below."
