On our 5th foundation day, we would like to express our immense gratitude towards community in Vrindavan for accepting us and cooperating in doing the challenging work of starting the conversation on child sexual abuse and the intersection of caste,gender and disabilities. We are what we are because of volunteers who share this dream with us that we can build strong communities who chose accountability over punishment. 💙 Violence prevention needs constant care work, support work not punishment. FACT SHEET: Handwashing with soap, critical in the fight against coronavirus, is ‘out of reach’ for billions
In total, only 3 out of 5 people worldwide have basic handwashing facilities, according to the latest data.
“Handwashing with soap is one of the cheapest, most effective things you can do to protect yourself and others against coronavirus, Yet for billions, even this most basic of steps is simply out of reach.” said Sanjay Wijesekera, UNICEF Director of Programmes.
20 per cent of urban Indians, or 91 million, lack basic handwashing facilities at home.
In the wake of Pandemic COVID-19 Nirmal Initiative has made a commitment provide soap at public water taps in Vrindavan.

गंदे नाले के साथ लगे हैं नगर निगम के पीने के पानी के नल। लोग यहां से घर के इस्तेमाल के लिए पानी लेते हैं। COVID-19 के संक्रमण की रोकथाम के लिए सार्वजनिक नलों पर साबुन की व्यवस्था करनी बहुत महत्वपुर्ण है। बड़े बड़े वादे एक तरफ हैं, हम सबको मिल कर ये मामूली जान पड़ते किन्तु कोरोना वायरस के अचूक रामबाण साबुन की व्यवस्था सुनिचित करनी होगी, रोज़ अगले काम से कम 2 महीने तक। तभी हमारे शहर के लोगों को हम महामारी से बचा सकेंगे।
We talk a lot about making children aware about safe touch and unsafe touch, and tell them to seek help from the adults in case they experience sexual abuse.But do our children have the vocabulary to speak about the experience of broken trust, of manipulation? We find content for our language from our surroundings,are the adults in the community having responsible conversations on the issue? So that our children can figure out how to speak about the experience of sexual abuse.
Prevention of Sexual violence and practice of social justice are matter practice, of reinforcement. On 14th March 2019,We conducted an assessment at Government primary School Rajpur (vrindavan) which shows that Children could identify the difference between safe and unsafe touch,talk about feelings but were not comfortable with the idea of reporting the incident of unsafe touch (sexual abuse) to a trusted adult. This exercise has reiterated the realization that we need to develop primary prevention awareness programme which are restorative and community based,which encourage adults to participate in conversations on sexual abuse,on caste based bullying.

Today, we are concluding our programme in Rajpur village, we are leaving the village clean. We are working on caste inflicted duties on some castes, which are supposed to clean the garbage.
But here, Nirmal initiative along with Brij Vrindavan Act now organisation, we are picking up the garbage so that it sends the message to the villagers that it's everyone's work to keep the village clean and burdening one caste isn't right.
