IATA: Eight Month Peak in Air Cargo

The global air cargo industry gets a 2.7% YOY improvement, says IATA. First fast paced growth since the month of April last year. Asia-Pacific region performs the best-49.8% rise; Europe follows with 41.6%; Africa, Latin America see fall. The association adds its prediction of a modest annual growth in air freight at the end of 2016 considering the absence of strong demand.

BLS: Rise in Rail Cargo traffic but fall in profits

BLS Cargo, rail freight operator from Sweden, reported a rise of 11% in rail cargo traffic in 2015, with 18,225 total operated trains in comparison to 2014’s 16,486 trains. There was a 4% fall of transit traffic covering the Lotschberg/Simplon main route, to a total of 11,656 trains. But it was compensated by the 41% rise of transit traffic upon the route of Gotthard with 2649 trains and the 55% growth of inland traffic up to a total of 3920 trains resulting from the growth in oil transport.
