The Assam government has declared local public holidays on April 19, 26, and May 7 for constituencies holding Lok Sabha polls.
The Assam government on Monday announced localised public holidays in respective constituencies during the three-phase Lok Sabha polls in the state. The notification, issued by an order of the governor, announced public holidays on April 19, 26, and May 7 in areas where polling is scheduled on those dates under the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881.

In the first phase on April 19, polling will be held in five constituencies: Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Lakhimpur, and Sonitpur.

The second phase on April 26 will see polling in another five seats: Silchar, Karimganj, Diphu, Nagaon, and Darrang-Udalguri.

The remaining four constituencies – Guwahati, Dhubri, Barpeta, and Kokrakhjar will go to the polls in the third phase on May 7.

All government and non-government offices, PRIs, urban local bodies, educational institutions, business and commercial establishments including banks, tea gardens, and industries within the specified jurisdiction of the constituencies will remain closed on polling days, the General Administration Department order said.

The Maldives government has reportedly
suspended three of its ministers for their
derogatory remarks on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid the Lakshadweep vs Maldives row. The ministers suspended are Hassan Zihan, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Transport and Civil, Mariyam Shiuna - Deputy Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts and Malsha, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Youth Empowerment. The move comes after PM Modi's Lakshadweep visit last week triggered word of war after Maldives minister Abdulla Mahzoom Majid, in a social media post, claimed that India is shifting focus from the Maldives by promoting Lakshadweep as another tourist spot. Many Indians also cancelled their trip to the Maldives for Lakshadweep after PM Modi posted pictures of the beaches on social media.

Traffic jam on Monday Market-day at Dayangmukh Bazar (West Karbi Anglong) due to lack of proper vehicle parking spaces. The traffic jam spread up on to Diyung bridge towards Diyungbra(Dima Hasao). Unregulated vehicle parking around market area and on bridge has been a major cause of traffic jam on every market days.

Inflow of Drugs in our beloved Dima Hasao District is a new problem. We have been hearing quite frequently now a days that boys arrested in our District specially from Haflong in cases related to Drugs. This is very saddening news. We the public should be more conscious and vigilant towards what is going on in our locality?, what the youths are doing specially boys?, aren't they envolved in any type of bad activities?. The youths should be warned if they are found doing bad activities, before it is too late.

Conflict in one place definitely affects the politics of its neighbouring places. e.g. Conflicts in Burma/Myanmar affected the politics of Manipur and Mizoram. Mizoram govt. accepted Their Zo brothers/sisters from Myanmar open heartedly while Manipur Govt. headed majority Meitei people saw them as threat to their state politics. Manipur Govt did not wanted to accept Zo refugees from Myanmar but Kuki people living in Manipur were in favour of accepting those refugees. This is also one many issues that created difference between Meiteis and Kukis in Manipur, and finally they have a big conflict today.

Now about Dima Hasao, Manipur state is a neighbour to Dima Hasao District, there are some common population groups those residing in our district too. It will definately have an effect on District politics. I hope this crisis in Manipur ends very soon.

It is the people of Manipur (Both Meiteis, Naga, Kuki many more) choose N B Singh to be CM. It is two communities (Kuki-Meiteis) problem. Both should be given equal rights, both sould be ST or none should be ST. Meiteis should be allowed to buy land in Kuki areas. Kukis are already allowed to buy land in Meitei areas.
Inequality in rights & too much communal nationalism is the root cause of conflict in NEI and also in Manipur. It is injustice to Meiteis also if their land share is just 10 per cent of Manipur state. Poppy cultivation & immigration is real fact. Who funds these cultivations that needs to be seen? it may be Meiteis also.

Heavy rain is a big problem for Diyungbra to Haflong road as the chances of landslides are increasing along the road. The road condition was not good enough even in the last winter season too.
