Haifa was annexed by the 15th Cavalry Brigade of the British Empire, which consisted of the Imperial Service Troops from the princely states of Hyderabad, Mysore, Patiala, Alwar and Jodhpur. it was called the Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade.

On 23rd September 1918, The Cavalry Brigade, led by lancers from Jodhpur and Mysore Lancers, as well as contingents from Bhavanagar, Baroda, Idar and Jamnagar forces attacked the German-Turkish troops and seized the city of Haifa.

The Turkish army was well-equipped with machine guns and artillery, while on the other hand, the Indian troops had only spears at their disposal and were not too strong in terms of the number either 400 Indian soldiers were on a battlefield against 1500 Turkish men.

- About 900 Indian soldiers are interred in cemeteries across Israel in Jerusalem, Ramle and Haifa.

- Captain Amar Singh Bahadur, Dafadar Jor Singh, Major Dalpat Singh, Captain Anop Singh and 2nd Lt Sagat Singh were among the 400 Indian soldiers who fought for Israel that day. While the first two brave lancers were awarded the Indian Order of Merit (IOM), the latter three were awarded the Military Cross (MC).

- The Jodhpur and Mysore Lancers are now represented by 61st Cavalry Regiment in the Indian Army and still commemorate the battle every year on 23 September as Haifa Day.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the Haifa cemetery during his visit to Israel in July 2017 and unveiled a plaque commemorating Major Dalpat Singh, known as the 'Hero of Haifa' for his critical role in the liberation of the city.

- India renamed the iconic Teen Murti Chowk, a war memorial, to Teen Murti Haifa Chowk, during the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - בנימין נתניהו to New Delhi in January.

- Teen Murti Haifa Chowk has three life-size bronze statues representing the Hyderabad, Jodhpur and Mysore Lancers who participated in the Battle of Haifa for the 15 Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade.

Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD) has been renamed as the Ministry of Education following an approval from the Union Cabinet.

▪️Name change was a key recommendation of the draft New Education Policy, which has also been cleared in Wednesday's Cabinet meeting.

▪️The HRD ministry name was adopted in 1985, during the tenure of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, as it was changed from ministry of education new National Education Policy (NEP) will replace the existing National Policy on Education which was first formulated in 1986 and last modified in 1992.

▪️The New Education Policy includes extension of Right to Education Act 2009 to cover children of ages 3 to 18 and also seeks to reduce content load in school education curriculum.

Covaxin: Human trials of India's first coronavirus vaccine begin

Amidst the hope for the early corona vaccine, the human trials for Covaxin, India's first vaccine candidate against novel coronavirus infection has started. The clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine candidate has already begun in All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna and Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak.

Bharat Biotech, a Hyderabad-based pharmaceutical company has developed the vaccine in collaboration with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Earlier the permission to initiate phase I and II human clinical trials was given by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).

In the first phase, 375 volunteers have been applied with Covaxin which is India's first vaccine candidate against the coronavirus disease.

So far two Indian companies Bharat Biotech International Ltd and the Zydus Cadila pharmaceutical companies' have been given permission by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for the human trials.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had selected 12 institutions for conducting the human clinical trials for Covaxin in phases which includes All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Patna, Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences in Hyderabad, and the Delhi AIIMS.

The vaccine was applied on the physically fit volunteers aged anywhere between 18 to 55. They were given three dosages of Covaxin after which they were kept under observation.

A total of 1,100 volunteers would be administered the Covaxin in two phases. The phase I human trial has now been completed successfully in which the vaccine was applied to 375 volunteers.

ICMR has informed that institutions in India are developing the vaccine prototypes only after complying with every necessary rules and regulation stratified by international customs since no compromises are being made in the attempt to surge ahead in the race for coronavirus vaccine.

Safety and preliminary dosing in a few dozen healthy subjects are tested in the Phase I trials.

The phase II trials would include evaluating immunogenicity, dose levels, and adverse effects of the candidate vaccine, typically in hundreds of people.

Phase III trials typically involve more participants, including a control group, and test effectiveness of the vaccine to prevent the disease (an "interventional" trial), while monitoring for adverse effects at the optimal dose.

Some facts about Rewa Solar in Madhya Pradesh which was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi Ji Today,

1.The Solar Park has been developed over a total area of 1500 hectares.

2. An amount of ₹ 138 crore has been provided by the Centre to RUMSL for the development of the Solar Park.

3. This Solar Power project in Rewa consists of three solar power generating units, each having a capacity of 250 MW and each located on a 500 hectare plot of land

4. It is India’s first such solar project to break the grid parity barrier. In comparison to the tariffs of prevailing solar project in early 2017 of around Rs 4.50 per unit, the Solar project in Rewa achieved the first year tariff of Rs 2.97 per unit

5. The Rewa Solar Power project is expected to reduce carbon emission equivalent to around 15 lakh tons of CO2 per year.

6. It exemplifies the commitment of the nation to achieve the 175 GW target of installed renewable energy capacity by 2022.

7. In India as well as abroad, it has been acknowledged for its robust project structuring and innovations

8. From the project, the Delhi Metro will get 24 per cent of energy, while the remaining 76 per cent of energy being supplied to the state DISCOMs of Madhya Pradesh.

9. For its innovation and excellence, the Rewa Solar Power project has received the World Bank Group President’s Award

10. The project was also included in the PM’s “A Book of Innovation: New Beginnings”
