Today, the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Shri Virender Gupta, JKAS accompanied with his Revenue Team and escorted by the Police personnel, made a visit to the entire main-market of Chowki Choura and observed that all inhabitants of the Sub-Division were in a jubilant state of mind to celebrate today’s event in their local culture. During visit, all the local CSC Operators, as directed by the District Administration, were instructed to display their prescribed Rate Lists at the conspicuous place of their shop, as having been approved by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology Department.
To take stock of the presence of Doctors and Para-Medical Staff in the 24x7 Sub District Hospital, Chowki Choura, a surprise visit was made. The requisite staff, as per the roaster, was found present on duty and were directed to deliver their worth to the needy patients visiting the Hospital.
To curb the menace of violation of traffic-norms, a Nakka was laid at the Check Post of Chowki Choura. During inspection,

SDM visits Juthal-Balsaro Panchayat:

To assess the feasibility of a Large Vehicle Bridge over Tawi River for the inhabitants of Balsaro Village, today Shri Virender Gupta, JKAS Sub Divisional Magistrate, Chowki Choura, accompanied by his Tehsildar, Dr.Raman Jandyal, JKAS assisted by its Revenue Team visited Juthal-Balsaro Panchayat. The Sarpanch, Shri Baldev Sharma, led the entourage to the spot in Hamlet Miyari of Balsaro Panchayat for the proposed Large Vehicle Bridge, and after an on-foot walk of 01 kilometer, it was found that they, including minor-school-going children and senior citizens, have to either cross the River Tawi on foot or have to cover a distance of 10 kms. motorable road to reach the desired destinations in Tehsil Pouni of Reasi District. The dwellers of the area explained their mental agony being faced by them for want of a proper Large Vehicle Bridge in their area. During interaction with the public, having gathered there, it was realised that Tehsil Pouni being quite approachable to Juthal-Balsaro Panchayat, its populace always prefer to opt for Medicare facilities as well as other routine business affairs. However, realising their hardships, the SDM has endorsed their request with the District Administration for early laying of a Large Vehicle Bridge over River Tawi and accordingly instructed the accompanying Tehsildar to prepare the requisite revenue documents for its forwarding to the higher authorities.
As brought out by the Sarpanch/PRI members and other stakeholders of the area, a serious view over non-completion of Plan Works of 2023-24 has been taken by the SDM, and accordingly the BDO Chowki Choura has been asked to furnish Contractorwise list of works whose Tenders stand floated but works yet not started, so that the District Administration could be approached for blacklisting of such defaulting Contractors.

*Review Meeting of Development Activities at Chowki Choura* :

Today, Shri Virender Gupta, JKAS Sub Divisional Magistrate Chowki Choura, conducted a review meeting of development works being carried out by the various Government Departments in the area.

First of all, an introductory meeting was held and thereafter the SDM took departmentwise review of their undergoing development works.

In the beginning, the Block Programme Manager of NRLM, Akhnoor briefed about their various initiatives being undertaken in the Sub Division, to which the SDM sought a list of beneficiaries having been covered therein, and directed the Tehsildar Chowki Choura to cross-check the same. The said official was directed to conduct Panchayatwise awareness camps to sensitise the under privileged and needy women so as to empower them.

The AEE Flood Control, Akhnoor informed the SDM that the 70% of the Crate Work at Basaawa has been completed, upon which the SDM directed to expedite the work and complete its pending work by the end of December '2023.

The Block Development Officer briefed about the various development works being carried out under the CAPEX Budget. The SDM directed the BDO to ensure that all the development works are completed within the scheduled time and bring into notice if the process of development is hampered by any miscreant.

The AEO Agriculture also highlighted his achievements having been accomplished for welfare of the farmer-community. However, the SDM directed him to promote the cultivation of new crops, such as Lemon-Grass, turmeric, Ginger, Mushroom cultivation, Beekeeping, and other high-yielding varieties of crops to increase the income of the poor-farmers, ipso facto to prevent the loss being caused by the monkey- menace.

The CDPO Akhnoor was directed to properly monitor the functioning of his Anganwari Centre operating in the Sub Division.

PUBLIC DARBAR AT BALSARO PANCHAYAT:

Today, Shri Virender Gupta JKAS SDM Chowki Choura, accompanied by Dr.Raman Jandyal JKAS Tehsildar and Pankaj Katoch, Incharge Police Post, Chowki Choura, assisted with Revenue Team, conducted a Public Darbar at Village Balsaro, the last Panchayat adjoining with the boundaries of Reasi District, to take stock of genuine grievances of its inhabitants.

At the outset, the Sarpanch, Baldev Sharma, PRI Members and other stakeholders raised a vulnerable issue of having created a Mining Block No.21, by the Mining Department of Reasi District, but actually falling under the ambit of Jammu District. After listening to their grievance, it was found that the Lift Irrigation Scheme of Villages Saro, located adjacent to the newly created Mining Block, had become defunct, and resultantly the inhabitants of Villages Miyari, Bal and Saro wereseverly crying for the drinking water.
Realizing the sensitivity of the issue, the SDM immediately called Shri Shafiq Ahmed, District Mineral Officer, Reasi and Shri Naresh Sharma, Tehsildar Reasi to clarify the ground position.
After threadbare discussion as well as visiting the Mining Spot, it was decided upon that a joint demarcation, within a period of 10 days, shall be carried out, whereby both the Tehsildars were directed to deputed their respective Revenue Teams and accordingly submit a detailed/factual report.
Meanwhile, the SDM requested the DMO Reasi to stop all types of mining activities in the said Block.

Another burning issue raised by the inhabitants was the lack of link-road from Vill.Bal to Vill.Saro as the people, including school-going children have to walk-on-foot through the rivulet, in as much as a miserable situation is witnessed during rainy season.
The BDO Chowki Choura was contacted to immediately start the construction of link-road under MG NREGA so that a sigh of relief could be availed by all the dwellers.

PUBLIC DARBAR AT SLANGAR, UNCONNECTED HAMLET OF SALYOTE PANCHAYAT:

Today, Shri Virender Gupta JKAS SDM Chowki Choura, accompanied by Dr.Raman Jandyal JKAS Tehsildar Chowki Choura and Shri Ravi Sharma, AEE PMGSY, held a Public Darbar in the premises of Govt. High School at Slanger, the unconnected Hamlet of Salyote Panchayat of Jammu District, to take stock of genuine grievances of its inhabitants.

At the outset, the PRI Members and other stakeholders welcomed the SDM and his entourage for their maiden visit to their hamlet situated atop an hillock and shown gratitude for having covered 5.5 km long hilly onfoot journey to redress their grievances.

One of the participants, raised the most vulnerable issue of drinking water. A well was found to be the only source of water for all the 35 families living in Slanger and Kassander villages. A miserable situation is faced by then during all the summers as they have to travel a distance of 3 kms to quench their thirst from a natural source at Vill. Treoli.
Upon which, the SDM immediately contacted the AEE Jal Shakti Department, Chowki Choura road to resolve the issue of water-ctisis at Slanger, who revealed that already a Project under National Rural Drinking Water Programme has been earmarked for Village Slanger, whose revised DPR stands submitted. Besides this, the SDM sensitized the villagers to develop Rain Water Harvesting Structures in their surroundings alongwith active participation of Rural Development Department.

Another participant demanded for inclusion of their village as Backward Area. Observing that their demand was genuine keeping in view the most treacherous onfoot journey of their area and sans other basic facilities, it was assured that the matter shall be taken up with the concerned quarter on top priority.

The grevious issue of lack of health facility was also pointed out in the Public Darbar. And it was assured that all efforts shall be made to open either an Allopathic Sub
