Poombarai Village View, Kodaikanal.
Poombarai village, a must visit place in Kodaikanal, is around 20km downhill from Kodaikanal town on the way to Mnnavanur. The village gives great and excellent scenic view with different shapes and sizes of lands that carved like steps.. The photo is captured just before a rain.

Found this old Tamil lady running a roadside tea stall on the way to Kodaikanal. Feeling very much respect to this lady who tirelessly works despite of her age and being independent of others. I will definitely have a stop at the same place if I go to Kodaikanal again.

Indian Giant Squirrel or Malabar Giant Squirrel foraging for food on a tree is found at a forest in Vazhachal, Kerala.
Due to hunting, loss of habitat and trade of parts, the Malabar Giant Squirrels are threatened to extinction. In Kerala, they are protected in Silent Valley National Park in Palakkad, the Wildlife Sanctuaries of Neyyar and Peppara in Thiruvananthapuram, Periyar Tiger Reserve in Idukki, and Eravikulam National Park in Idukki.

The iridescent feathers of Indian Peacock give the marvelous visual effect on their wings and that makes this bird long fascinated it's human observers.
Happened to watch this pulchritudinous bird so closer that I could capture it's most admirable feathers with my Nikon D5300 using Nikkor 55-300mm lens.

Photos captured during the photography event conducted by Thrissur Sanchari unit at Puzhakkal kole wetlands on 26th March 2017.
Hats off to Sanchari Thrissur unit for making the event a very useful one for many new born photographers like me. Thanks to Manoj Kunnambath for sharing beneficial tips about the bird photography. Hope it was just a beginning of a series of photography events to come and wish to be a part of more such events in future.

World Forest Day 2017.
This Kumki was spotted at place between Anaikatti and Coimbatore. From the local people, I got to know that It was caught from the forest in the age of 9 and trained to be a Kumki and is now 30 years old.
Kumkis are well trained Indian elephants, used mostly for taming and training of newly captured wild elephants. They are also used to lead away wild elephants that stray into human settlement.

The yellow color reflected from the boat halted near the duck makes the color combination more elegant in the backwater of Poomala, Thrissur.

Spotted the chameleon turned it's color to brown to match with the color of rock it sits on, in the Marottichal forest, Thrissur.
The ability of chameleons to move their eyes separately from each other and to change their color enable them to hide from both predators and prey.
