The Concept Studio, an initiative by NEWNMEDIA , is all set to launch on April 29th, coinciding with the celebration of International Dance Day. This multifaceted studio mainly caters to classical dancers, providing facilities for photoshoots, brief recitals, live streaming of concerts, and dedicated practice sessions.

Highlights of Mohiniyattam presentation 'Anahata - Seeking the Inner Chord' by Malavika Menon and presented as part of the Mohiniyattam Festival segment of the 2023 edition of the Soorya Festival. 'Manjeeradhwani' (the music of the anklet) is a series of dance events hosted by Laasya Academy of Bharatanatyam. Usually presented as a live stage event, the pandemic forces Laasya to showcase it as a virtual program. In this first event on the online platform, Laasya features six budding woman dancers enjoying their thirties and forties. Most of them never got an opportunity to learn dance in their childhood or their teens and commenced learning only in their thirties. Moreover, most of their training in the last year happened online, and there could be flaws in their debut venture on stage.

Aspiring danseuse Gopika Raj Pillai retells the story of Mahabali in a traditional Bharatanatyam Sabdam. Though sabdams are often in praise of someone, this particular piece, rather than praising a mythological figure, narrates the tale of King Mahabali.

Gopika Raj Pillai, a young Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographed and presented the item. She learns classical dance from the age of three under noted gurus, Regatta Girija Chandran and Neena Prasad. For the last half a decade, Gopika learns Bharatanatyam from Chennai based Guru Kalakshetra Nirmala Nagarajan. She also learned Kathakali and Kuchipudi and is a third-year student in English literature.

~ Onakkoottu: An Onam Symphony ~
Onam, the national festival of Kerala, is marked by togetherness, vibrancy, and cheerful spirits. The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected all walks of life and the Onam celebrations of the year 2020 are no exception. The photography community got severely hit by the crisis as public events came to a standstill due to stringent restrictions.

Onakkoottu (ഓണക്കൂട്ട്) is a coordinated effort of eight passionate photographers who attempt to visualise how they celebrate the festival in the comfort of their households. The videos shot from different parts of the state are synchronised to convey the message of standing united, though distances make all of them apart. We need to come up with a fresh value-based culture that uplifts the philosophy of co-existence. Mother nature has always shown unconditional love to all creatures on this planet, but our careless behaviour has brought us on our knees today. We have cut trees, encroached forests, created concrete jungles, destroyed homes of many species of animals and birds with a false sense of ownership. Mother nature has called out our lie. Its high time we listen to her voice, but before that let us surrender to her and fight this pandemic together bravely. We shall overcome. Tharanam Cheyyanam!

~ Event Highlights: Moksha ft. Sneha Ajith ~
Highlights of 'Moksha' - a Mohiniyattam thematic production, premiered in the 'Mohiniyattam Festival' segment of the 111-day long annual Soorya Festival organized by Soorya India. After starting with the final journey of the Pandavas and their wife Panchali, it narrates the last moments between herself and Bhima. It has been conceived and choreographed by noted Mohiniyattam exponent Kalamandalam Rachitha Ravi and was presented at the festival by Sneha Ajith in the lead, along with Devika Thulasi, Krishna Poonthottam, Kalamandalam Anjali C., Jyothisree Padmanabhan, and Kalamandalam Anju Rajeev.

Manjeeradhwani by Laasya Academy of Bharatanatyam -- 'Manjeeradhwani' (the music of the anklet) is a series of dance events hosted by Laasya Academy of Bharatanatyam. Usually presented as a live stage event, the pandemic forces Laasya to showcase it as a virtual program. In this first event on the online platform, Laasya features six budding woman dancers enjoying their thirties and forties. Most of them never got an opportunity to learn dance in their childhood or their teens and commenced learning only in their thirties. ~ Teaser: Mahabali Sabdam ~ Aspiring Bharatanatyam danseuse Gopika Raj Pillai retells the story of Mahabali in a traditional Bharatanatyam Sabdam. Sabdam is a peculiar genre in the Bharatanatyam repertoire, literally meaning words of praise. Presented in a telltale manner through this piece, elements of nritya get introduced in a traditional concert. Though sabdams are often to eulogize someone, this particular piece, rather than praising a mythological figure, narrates the tale of King Mahabali.
