*Kashmiri Pandit body files police complaint against Iltija M***i for derogatory remarks*

Jammu, Dec 9: An organisation of migrant Kashmiri Pandits said on Monday that it has filed a police complaint against the alleged derogatory and inflammatory remarks by Iltija M***i, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and daughter of former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba M***i.

In a statement, a Kashmiri Pandit organisation called ‘Youth 4 Panun Kashmir’ said on Monday that a police complaint has been filed against Iltija M***i for allegedly derogatory and inflammatory remarks against Lord Rama and the Hindus.

Vithal Chowdhary, President Youth 4 Panun Kashmir (Y4PK) has filed a police complaint against Iltija M***i for her derogatory and inflammatory tweet against Lord Rama, Hindu faith and Hindus.

The complaint has been lodged with the Cyber Crime Cell, Delhi, alleging that the statement is deeply offensive, is aimed at inciting communal discord, and deliberately insults Lord Rama, the Hindu religion and its followers. The complaint cites Sections 302, 325, and 323 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Section 67 of the IT Act.

Roots in Kashmir (RIK), another prominent Kashmiri Pandit organisation has welcomed the action of Y4PK.

Amit Raina, spokesperson of RIK, said that Iltija M***i is a habitual offender and that it will provide all possible assistance to Vithal Chowdhary to ensure that she is booked for her derogatory and inciting statement.

Youth 4 Panun Kashmir has called for the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly, block the offending content under Section 69A of the IT Act, and initiate stringent legal proceedings against M***i.

“The organisation, alongside allies such as RIK, reiterates its commitment to advocating for justice and preserving the sanctity of all religious beliefs in India,” the statement said.

It must be mentioned that Panun Kashmir, the parent organisation of ‘Youth 4 Panun Kashmir’ has been the first organisation to advocate a homeland for the minority Kashmiri Pandit community to be carved out in Kashmir Valley from where the terrorists hounded out the community in 1990s.–(IANS)

SRINAGAR: 9 Dec 2024.

Youth Ambassador-IYS, President of International Human Rights Commission for Jammu and Kashmir Fahar Baba said It is a pleasure to be here on International Anti-Corruption Day. It’s a day to consider the impact of corruption in India and consider what more we can all do together to combat it.

I stress the word “together” Because a partnership is needed to tackle corruption and the government recognises that there is a serious corruption problem in India. Corruption has many dimensions affecting political, economic and the social environment of all countries. It undermines democratic institutions, slows economic development and contributes to governmental instability.

In the political sphere it undermines democracy and good governance. It reduces accountability and distorts representation in policy making. It undermines the legitimacy of government and such democratic values as trust and tolerance. The impact of corruption on economic is that it leads to depletion of national wealth and is responsible for increased costs of goods and services, conversion of public wealth to private and personal property, inflation and imbalanced economic development.

Corruption discourages cooperation among people working for the common good. Demanding and paying bribes becomes the tradition and results in social inequality and insecurity.

Fahar Baba said, As a nation we have moved substantially forward in our battle against corruption. The task of ensuring transparency and accountability has acquired an urgency as never before. The Right to Information is a powerful tool in ensuring transparency and accountability in our public life. Government of India is committed to expeditiously move forward on a comprehensive agenda of executive, legal and technology reforms to curb corruption and deliver good governance. The recent spate of action taken by the Government of India against corruption has unfortunately portrayedIndiaas a corrupt nation. We know that this is not true and we must support the Government. As citizens of India it is our duty to extend our cooperation and support to the Government in its battle against corruption. Other organizations should come forward like International Human Rights Commission to participate by minimizing opportunities of corruption.

Let us strengthen the hands of the Government and not just criticize its efforts. As citizens of India we should not tolerate or allow corruption to re**rd our progress and lower our image internationally. The role each of us as citizens of the Jammu and Kashmir and the Nation can play in fighting against corruption. He added

Cricketer dies after being struck by ball while playing in Srinagar's Nowgam

Srinagar, Dec 08: A young cricketer tragically lost his life in the Nowgam area of Srinagar after being hit by a cricket ball, officials said.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the incident occurred at the Madankha Nowgam cricket ground. The deceased has been identified as Adnan Raheem Bhat, son of Abdur Raheem Bhat, a resident of Astanpora Rawalpora.

Adnan was immediately shifted to a hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident, and further details are awaited—(KNO)
